The Ashes 2023

They did it with about 7 overs or so to spare. If we don't declare they don't have time to get the runs and we draw, Stokes went for the win and did what he thought necessary to do it. He will make mistakes along the way but that's part and parcel of it and I for one want to be on this ride. I'd rather lose trying to win than accept a draw, I know most will disagree but you aren't gonna change stokes mindset, just enjoy it while you can.
It's a different game if you hit 430 in the first innings though. They won because they knew they had time. They basically had limited overs to chalk off the score. No preasure at all.

England should never ever have lost that game. Stokes made decisions that made an Australian win more likely and thats criminal in an ashes series

Australia were miles off their best and won. Thats a complete disaster for England.
Nobody died so it's not really a disaster, is it? It's a game of cricket. Actually, it was a great game of cricket.

Painful ending, but a cracking Test.
Hopefully that has set things going for the rest of the series.

A lot of silly errors And some serious rusty play by Behind the sticks by Bairstow
but here's to hoping that was our Tits up Test and We're be fresh as daisies for the rest of the series..

I just love the freedom that Root bats with now, the weight has been lifted off his shoulders !!!

I didn't agree with the declaration but let's be honest they needed 281, more than they've scored to win any test in 7 years, and more than they've scored in England to win since 1948. The real problem is relying on a 36 year old and 40 year old bowler, and having no real back up spinner. If we had Leach we'd have won that game. A bit worried for the series now though. Their bowling attack looks better than ours, they have the top 3 batters in the world as well. We always lose at Lords as well. I really think we needed to win that game, but this team has consistently over achieved in the last year so who knows.
