Facebook Signs European Union Pledge To Suppress Loosely Defined ‘Hate Speech’ And Promote ‘Counter Narratives’

bigbrother1.png

The European Commission has today announced a partnership with Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Microsoft in order to crack down on what it classes as “illegal hate speech” while “criminalizing] perpetrators and “promoting independent counter-narratives” that the European Union favours.

A press release from the Commission this morning claims the new initiative has been set up “to respond to the challenge of ensuring that online platforms do not offer opportunities for illegal online hate speech to spread virally”.

The move has been branded “Orwellian” by Members of the European Parliament, and digital freedom groups have already pulled out of any further discussions with the Commission, calling the new policy “lamentable”.

The unelected, executive branch of the European Union (EU) released a “Code of Conduct” today that “includes a series of commitments to combat the spread of illegal hate speech online in Europe” developed “together with Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Microsoft (‘the ITcompanies’)” who have “signed up”.
Facebook in collusion has banned all speech that is anti-immigration in Germany under the guise of hate speech. People have actually been arrested for it. It's a joke and anyone who still falls for that "you're a racist" line is a moron.

I think you've misunderstood something here... you are aware that it's a not-legally-binding, slim 'code-of-conduct', the contents of which are already partly covered by the e-commerce directive? It's just a public commitment.

Donald Tusk isn't going to be looking at your Facebook profile anytime soon.

We've already seen suppression of free speech during the migrant crisis in Germany and Facebook is now known to supress conservative items, it's a worrying trend.

The tech industry is the globalists propaganda wing. All because they rely on cheap foreign labour.

It was but it can be equally applied to pretty much everyone. Until very recently anyone that spoke out against the consensus was essentially committing career and social suicide.

Political correctness has been used to shut down the debate before it started and that was very intentional.

It's only a few men like Farage that have brought the issue to the place that it is now. Even the Guardian respects the effect this one man has had.

We as the European tax payers will then be expected to pay. It's absolute insanity.

The man is an utter trumpet. I can give him some credit for forcing Cameron to give us a referendum I don't personally want, if you like.

Give some specific examples - I disagree wholeheartedly with this sentiment:

Until very recently anyone that spoke out against the consensus was essentially committing career and social suicide

...because it's tripe and it doesn't make me feel sorry for anyone.

Ok my own personal view.

I think journalists, political class, chattering class have lived in an echo chamber. They haven't had to actually debate these issues because everyone from Enoch Powell to now has been branded a racist or xenophobe for bringing them up.

For that reason a general consensus has emerged unchallenged and further this group hasn't been able to question it's own theories because to do so would be professional suicide. I also think there are global players who are above that and hire a lot of drones straight out of their political science classes to enforce this doctrine if anyone steps out of line through social media. They do this through NGOs like the Open Border Foundation.
The article I quoted, in substance referred to economic matters, rather than immigration.

Okay mate. Sorry the FB news algorithm doesn't suggest more Glenn Beck.
