The EU deal

Europe's unofficial financial centre is located in London, this would almost certainly be moved should we vote for a Brexit. The City as we know it would have its heart ripped out. Without even getting into trade details such a loss would dwarf the figures mentioned.

London is the centre of finance because we have experience, laws and can be trusted. London has always been a centre of finance and European nations, especially Germany are trying their very best to take it away via EU rules......the City of London will do very nicely outside of the EU, just as it always has.......

I'm all for leaving the EU for many reasons

The main one for me is the amount of sites around the north of England I've stood on a picket line with the union on my day off because of EU migrants working for peanuts since countries like Poland etc have become members......

And before I get labelled with the racist tag(again) I'll explain, these workers are working for £9 per hour while British workers work for £17.25 per hour in my job,now not only are these people working for a company undercutting the British worker they are also being exploited, once we get the union agreed rates to these people they are happy to join the picket......

That's not quite true is it?

Anyone who thinks Britain can leave the EU and that leaving would have no economic consequences is living in cloud cuckoo land.

Apart from the impact on trade (leaving the EU would actually increase our trade deficit with the EU not reduce it), the huge impact on FDI, and the effect on the City, the years of Brexit negotiations would massively reduce business investment plans and significantly impact economic growth.

Sheer lunacy.

Trade seems to be the only reason people want to stay.

Why would they stop trading with us if we were to leave? We have massive trade deficit with them. Can anyone imagine Germany to stop selling us their motorcars?

And if they did cut trade ties, we could sign our own trade deals globally with the Commonwealth etc.

And let's just say we do put ourselves into the unlikely scenario of not being able to trade with the EU. We could start manufacturing goods in this country, creating wealth and jobs.

For what are you whining then (the people)?

Would we stop trading with them ?
Would they stop trading with us ?
Of course there will be economic consequences, but not necessarily negative ones.

Dont want to leave me, just a tone down of some of it.

I'm not whining and whilst the majority want to see reform few I believe want to leave the EU.

Cameron promised the referendum as a sop to the right and to defeat UKIP at their own game. He did so because he never thought he would get elected, not because he wanted to fight a yes/no battle.

We would continue to buy similar amounts of European goods. Do you really think Europe would buy the same number of British goods as they do now?

Not only that foreign manufacturers will move manufacturing to Europe further damaging our trade balance and reducing our GDP.

I think they will and that Cameron being the snake oil salesman he is will get it over the line. But it's after that referendum that the fun and games begin. I can see civil war in the Tory Party if the anti-EU faction dont get their way.
I think there already is but anything that disrupts that self serving shower the better

£55m/day eh? That's an expensive club membership. See, we only ask £20 here at GOT, we're kind.

Just to offer a different point of view: does anyone think that whether we're in Europe or out of Europe, it won't make a blind bit of difference to the man on the street?

Keeping out of the Euro currency was a good thing as far as I can see, but will being in or out really make any difference to me and you, day to day? Maybe it will, I don't know.
Exactly my sentiment, and that's why many will not bother voting, as they don't see it as something that affects them. The ones who will vote will be the ones who want to leave.
