The EU deal

The Brexiters in the Tory party were all set to vote against the Queens Speech if there wasn't a protection for the NHS in the TTIP bill. Can give them some credit for that but their objective was to get one up in the EU battle rather than protecting the NHS.
What makes it different from any other concession from the EU that gets over tuned willy nilly?

TTIP won't have anything to do with a privatisation of the NHS, any more than saying pineapple shouldn't be banned from pizza doesn't mean that you have to buy pineapple pizzas.

Ok Bruce. We're aware of your view on the NHS.

Of course they have an input. Are you suggesting that nation states don't?

Are you privvy to the negotiations?

Its a lose-lose situation the EU is a joke just one big gravy train but I cant be part of handing power to Johnson/IDS/and Gove.

So I will be voting to stay in.
You would have an even bigger issue with the EU bureaucrats - if of course anyone knew who they were or what they were doing behind the scenes.

Appalling arguments from an appalling individual.
Was at a European public health conference yesterday and the benefits of collaboration were very obvious to all present. Not saying this would stop but membership makes it very easy. Really is too much to lose by leaving. Without being too 'imagine' it really is better to act in the interests of the continent.

Saying that the EU commission only proposes the laws but EU parliament votes on them is a bit like saying the British Cabinet only proposes laws but the Parliament votes on them.

An unelected body who are the only ones who are able to propose laws isn't how democracy is supposed to work. The people's elected representatives aren't supposed to be the equivalent of the House of Lords.

TTIP will exclude the NHS. That's already been agreed. If you think that the Tories won't protect the NHS in any agreement which may be made if outside of the EU, you have more faith than me.
The difference is we have democratic control over our government. We don't over the EU commission who are negotiating and in the end will be the only ones capable of stopping it.

Just seems utterly illogical to suggest that any buyer be forced to select a particular bidder that they don't want to. I can see it being logical that no one should be prevented from tendering for a service, but can't see there being any compulsion on the buyer to choose anyone they don't want to.

Our EU commissioner was proposed by our government in the same way that other member states propose their commissioner. We have the same control as other states in that we have a veto on TTIP. 28 countries will have to be satisfied that TTIP will work for them. 28 countries won't be.
