The Everton Board Thread 2014/15

Is it time for change?

  • I'm happy with the way thing are. Kenwright and the Board should stay.

  • Kenwright and the board need to go. We need change.

Unless all the fan base support a movement we will never get over the first hurdle. I, for the life of me don't understand how half of the fan base ignore genuine facts.

The Board will step down at a time when it chooses to do so. No amount of pressure from the fans or protest groups can change that.

Interestingly the change of tone by Blue Union is an acknowledgement of that, and one which I welcome.

No change there Mate, go back and read what was said when the BU was thought of.

If Kenwright is indeed ill. Then thats even more reason he should step aside. As he's no longer fit to carry out his duties.

I will read on from this post and see if the esk has posted to tell you, like he does with me, that this bit is out of order as there is no evidence of it....

The cause of a unified fanbase is not helped in the slightest when supporters such as you label others as uneducated, ignorant or complacent because they do not draw your conclusions...

Part, perhaps most, of the problem is that fan wishes (including mine) are schizophrenic.
  • We want a new or improved stadium but we don't want to be priced out of watching the game or have the atmosphere altered.
  • We want increased income generally in the English game so that we can go out and buy sexy European players from poorer European leagues and thus succeed in European competitions but we don't want the compromises (fixture changes, for example) that the TV deals entail. And we would prefer that there is more distance between ourselves and other 'inferior' clubs who are leveled up to us by the new deals.
  • We want the current board to sell to new owners. However, having failed to unearth any secret Everton-supporting multimillionaires during decades of research, these new independent non-Everton-supporting owners should be willing to donate money to the club (rather than invest for a profit) to
    a) enable us to buy the players at the highest end of the Premier League
    b) build us a new stadium in the most desirable location for the fan base
  • The uses to which the new owners put their donation should be subject to a veto by fan organisations.

Is it too cynical to suggest that the "Bill is ill' chatter occurs when his nibs is on the ropes or has no promises to make of a better future (stadium scheme, annexe, marquee signing)?

Your view is all about well 5000 tickets per game and losing £3.5million isn't all that much lost.

That is SMALL TIME THINKING

I'm all about maximising our revenue to enable us to properly compete.

Small time thinking won't give us the resources to properly compete.

Relying exclusively on TV money won't cover an increasing wage bill (premier league wage rules).

We need more money from all revenue streams. We need to be selling 55000+ tickets and bringing in another £15million a season minimum

Your small time thinking matches this boards. It will ultimately negatively impact the club.

Leading us no where.

So badly small time it hurts. We under this mindset are going one way. Backwards.

q.f. Aston Villa
I completely agree with the part in bold, but that is completely irrelevant to the point I was making.

You seem to think I'm of the opinion that we'll have no trouble moving forward under this current board. I neither said not meant anything of the sort.

My point was that the absolute maximum financial pressure a group such as the BU (or more accurately one infinitely more effective than the BU) can apply to a board these days is a few million quid (and not even a few million of their own money, with this board)... Which is, sadly, inconsequential when you're talking about the sums they're hoping to make from an eventual sale.

Sure, followed by "let go if you love the club"

I thought Dave Kelly's comments this week were more conciliatory which I applaud.

Regardless of all other comments. You know me @the esk

I'm all about finance.

I want Everton's success to be based on our financial success.

Which means earning more money from gates and commercial revenues and not being lob sided and vulnerable on TV revenue alone.

This board are not delivering this and this is harming the long term prospects of the club.

When compared to Spurs and West Ham getting 55000+ stadia

So I do say to the board 'How are you going to respond?'
