The Everton Board Thread 2014/15

Is it time for change?

  • I'm happy with the way thing are. Kenwright and the Board should stay.

  • Kenwright and the board need to go. We need change.

I give bill lots of credit for getting Lukaku; say +50 credit.

Unfortunately that only gets him to +50/-579

We had a superb opportunity this summer to reach out into the US. Tim Howard, the marketing of Everton as the alternative to Arab/Russian money, the working mans club.

Loads of US guys on here confirmed the american sports fan would lap it up; oldest ground/tradition/skint/underdog. They love it.

We even had a sort of film/documentary sort of lined up. Pretty sure we made suggestions to the Club as well.

Would have cost zippo, but could have been ace.

But the WC is old news now.

Hey ho.
No disrespect, but an amateur documentary isn't necessarily going to be the best way you might see of promoting your 'brand'.

In addition, turning any US interest into tangible income, is no easy feat.

Talking of increasing our media profile are we ? Well look at the stick the club got on this forum for the press conference they called when Barkley signed his new contract.
" Small time, laughable, amateur, embarrassing" where some of the more notable comments from those posters who claim the club do nothing to enhance their media profile.
Hypocrisy? Yeah!!

It was, it was lame as fk when we all knew that we were working on the signing of Lukaku, to call a press conference for the extension of contract is pants, especially when we signed Besic a few days before and didn't give him one.

Now had they done the lot in one week with pressers for each it would be amazing though.

4 Press conferences in 4 days
Monday - Barry signed
Tuesday - Besic signed
Wednesday - Barkley extension
Thursday - Lukaku signed
Friday - clean up your computer area.

Barkley was great news, delivered horribly badly and instead of being a positive, became a massive anti climax for a lot of fans.
Of course now Lukaku is done, its a massive boost to have locked him down for 2 more years but that's not the point.

http://www.thestage.co.uk/news/2014/07/bill-kenwright-blames-get-rich-quick-attitude-show-failures/

Kenwright hits out at get rich quick chancers in the theatre business,

...as opposed to get rich after a couple of decades chancers in the football ownership business.

That's right Bill, you tell em. You defo have the moral high ground there lad.

Interesting article, although I'm not sure I get your point.

Bill seems to be running the theatre business like the club. I can't see you can accuse him of using the club to get rich quick, although 15 years is nothing on a cosmic scale. I could see the parallels with football in the article though.

Rooney's new contract was headline news, as was Gerrards, yet when Everton attract wholesale media attention for Barkleys contract you class it as pants and lame ?
In my opinion it was a good bit of pr from the club.

As much as I appreciate that BK will never win in the eyes of some, I feel it's time to give credit where credit's due.

We've signed two of of our young stars on lengthy contracts (Coleman and Barkley), we've singed up last season's surprise player (Barry), we've got a brand new face already, for real money (Besic) AND WE'VE JUST BOUGHT ROMELU LUKAKU!!

Critising the board after this weeks' events seems quite crass to me. Do we laugh at an over weight person in a gym who is clearly trying to fix a problem?

Whether it's the TV money or the Fellaini money, it doesn't matter, come on, the board appear to be backing a manager who wants to kick on. Maybe they trust Roberto and didn't trust Moyes 100%.

Just think.

We sold Fellaini, Anichebe & Jelavic for more than Lukaku, Besic, McGeady & Barry. And that's what I call good business !!
