The only hope left for me after the two recent developments is that we are keeping the money for a new stadium. If this is the case then I think the board need to come out and confirm this sooner rather than later so the fans can at least understand their roadmap and get behind the team during this time because with our fixtures and the generally mood this could turn really ugly.
To hell with a new stadium, we've only got 1 senior cb

His health hasn't been too good. There's always a chance of that. When Stones goes and we don't really bring anyone decent in this window will have been worse than I would have ever expected. There must be a reason.

If Stones goes and that cash isn't spent he may as well stay in London.

...and the fat headed fraud knows it too.

The club haven't accepted any bid yet so beggars belief how this is their fault.

They've rejected 3 offers and the manager has had to answer the same question for 2 months solid; making his stance known.

Player hands in transfer request and this is somehow the boards fault, err ok. The board have a lot of failings, this is player power pure and simple. The same as sterling, De Gea, suarez, bale, berbatov (the list is endless) and every other player whose head as been turned by a "bigger club".

Money speaks in football, if John stones was at arsenal I'd still expect Jose to be acting the same way, he wanted his man and he made it perfectly known. The media then ran with it and the time prevailed.

John stones is the bad guy in this situation for leaving it so late, come out in June and say "lads I want to give it a go, thanks for the development but I'd love to give this a shot". We'd be annoyed but at least have time to plan and build.

He's screwed us and Barnsley

So the player wouldn't fancy a move to the Champions and £100k a week if we'd have bought a few more new faces by now? Dear oh dear...

Not that simplistic and you know it. This window is a snapshot of the last 16 years. If we showed ambition, ambitious players would stay longer. As it is we're going nowhere and can't even keep a 20 year old who's played one full season in the first team.

Of course we also need to focus on getting a proven CB but we will. We might be left with Lennon and Evans and if we are that's a decent enough team - not good enough to push for Europe or win anything but we won't be in danger of being relegated.

However if that's all we get then the mood around Goodison might effect the players and send us into a downward spiral which will be hard to get out of.

If their intention is to keep it for a stadium then they need to let the fans know. I think if they do that then while we won't be happy we will at least understand their decision.

Stones and Yarmolenko are gone. There's no point in arguing which strategy to pursue now.

I know what a metaphor is thank you.

You're coming across as less than pleasant to be honest.

In that case I'll make an analogy (With your permission?)

Bill Pavlov's dogs.......

Over time, some of bill pavlov's dogs began to resent the cack they were being fed, day after day as a reward when bill pavlov rang the bell and they reacted by salivating......No matter how much bill pavlov tried to disguise the tripe he was feeding them as something else, those dogs wern't having it....Some didn't even react by salivating when the bell rang in the end........However, some did & some still wolfed it down the same horridable garbage that was being served.

And those who continued to slobber & then get fed had the temerity to call the ones who didn't 'embarrassing to the doggy race.'

Sorry bill pavlov....Some of us dogs just aren't havin' it anymore. Not from you - and not from your 'subjects'.

How dare you come on here and post logical common sense, can't you see there's a lynching in progress ffs?

On the face of it I agree, however I also understand the cynicism of others.

I'd prefer to hear from the club before seeing a mass fume against the board, otherwise it just looks like any news that us fans aren't happy with is used as a stick to beat the board with. If we're going to criticise the board, we must be fair in doing so and in fairness they have rejected all bids up to now and said he's not for sale.

It does appear that a few folk are letting their views on the board get in the way of the fact that Stones has asked to leave, rather than focusing on the fact that all bids have been rejected.

I think Stones has had bad form here, but as I say I understand (but don't necessarily agree with) others' cynical outlook.
