Arsenal owe a hue debt of gratitude to Arsne Wenger who for many a season unearthed young talented (often french) footballers for a pittance and sold on at enormous profit, more often than not o having a negative net spend on transfers, couple that with the prime residential land that highbury sat on that they sold for mega bucks, plus the extortionate admission prices they charge, then it should come as no surprise that Arsenal are a wealthy club. (negative net spend ) get it ?

Get it? Thats why I said them.

Also on top of all that they have done it and won 7 trophies since 1999 or 14 since the gang of 5 formed the EPL.

In 1999 Arsenals turnover was almost £41 million. Evertons was just over £22 million. Almost double, and in London as well. Hardly a standing start !. Have a look at Toffeeweb...Financial Information 'Why the banks won't lend Bill money to buy Everton'
Hardly a level playing field even then was it ?
There is also a very interesting story on line about 'How Arsenal got their money'. Have a little google and you'll find it. Its interesting that the bedrock of their income was based on PLAYER SALES.....an absolute no no as far as Evertons usual suspects are concerned.

There running costs are higher being where they are too.

As for 1999 to 2013 comparisons then we have had a multiple of 3.9 increase (£22 million v £86 million) but Arsenals is a muliple of 5.9 (£41 million v £243 million).

Of course they will have a considerably higher increase in turnover.....for all the factors already mentioned. Another point...applying to all clubs, but creating greater increase in figures dependent on starting point 1999, is the dramatic financial inflation in football, many times the FT/Bank Of England inflation rate. There is no way you can include Arsenal in the same group as Stoke, Norwich, etc...the teams that traditionally the Anti BK/board faction quote as 'spending more than Everton on transfers'.One way Arsenal improved their finances over many years was by selling their best players, it is only this season they have reversed that policy, and its not a complete reverse. So...tell me the name of a club who has 'taken a punt' and has had more consistent, relative success than Everton. I'm not saying there isn't one, there may well be, but I haven't found it, and as I say success is relative....real success is about winning trophies consistently (not the odd cup success by the likes of Portsmouth, Birmingham, etc) and to some degree for many Prem clubs regular challenges in Europe would be tantamount to success. (back to Arsenal....Wenger has got them into Europe every year for many years....something else that has improved their finances greatly.) I always respect your opinion, Snapper, just wish more people would join in this debate, with some pertinent comments. I think this is the style of debate that Groucho was looking for.

Which is why I introduced the multiple.

As a business EFC isnt keeping up because the people we have in place are not good enough, not savvy, too comfortable and dont have a mid term plan or indeed a long term plan for the business.

Thats an opinion, but it doesn't take into account any other factors. Still haven't found a club that has 'taken a punt' and is doing better than Everton. Football is about emotion...business is about calculations and limiting risk...just ask Richard Branson !! Need to do other stuff now, until after Sky Super Sunday, which is important to Evertonians ! Back tonight.

Opinion after giving the cold hard facts as evidence.

What facts? You haven't compared our position in 1999 with any other club then, you haven't given any facts, just your 'opinion' .

Back later...over to Red Cafe now for as laugh;)

Very obviously facts as taken from the 2013 accounts of both ours and Arsenals, maybe you didnt read the post.

I took the 1999 figures as being facts too and lifted from your post. Unless you were lying that is.

Sorry, but thats a cop out, I'm disappointed in you. You are implying that balance sheets tell the whole story. Your implication that I'm lying is also beneath you pal, try to keep your self respect. Still waiting to find a club that has 'taken a punt' and had more relative success than Everton. Sorry, mods that I have to reply in this way. Not having it suggested that I am lying by anyone.

Seemed to have missed the start of this.

Are you arguing that there has been no clubs more successful than everton during kenwright's time here?

No...I am saying that if you take out of the equation the clubs who have had massive mega money investment(Chelsea, Man City, etc), Everton have been amongst the most successful, more successful in fact than clubs like Norwich, Villa, Sunderland, Birmingham, etc who are always quoted as examples of clubs who have 'outspent us' We are talking about the period from 1999 onwards and I've highlighted the Financial information(1999) on Toffeeweb under the heading 'Why The Banks Won't Lend Money To Bill' Go back a few pages and you'll find it...posts from yesterday and today.

Well I mean we're equal with those clubs in the '0 trophies club'.

But yeah, you're right. Kenwright's Everton as as good in the league as any club which doesn't have limitless checquebooks are.
