Champions league debt with a Championship team.
I was under the impression that the CPS were not involved, and the juristiction for this case was in the hands for the country which is named after a well known frozen food supermarket. Correct me if I'm wrong.By the same token, if the CPS drops the case (maybe by the bail date in July when it sounds as though the judge will need convincing to extend) does the Club (and the Player for that matter) have any legal course for compensation?
The club for continued payment to a player who was unavailable, and the player for reputational damage?
This isn't me trying to absolve the player of all blame, just a legal question.

Whichever useless body was carrying out the year long investigation into nothing.
On wages, I suspect insurance will cover.
On a potential sale, I think the club would be reasonable to say we have lost points, and thus extra income and/or an inability to sell. It could be a write down.
I dont know who you would sue though? There's no imperative to have to charge anyone suspected of any crime.
Pity , if no charges are brought I would love to witness club and player sue the authorities into oblivion. On wages, I suspect insurance will cover.

Hadn't considered that, I was always under the impression it was a local matter.I was under the impression that the CPS were not involved, and the juristiction for this case was in the hands for the country which is named after a well known frozen food supermarket. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I reckon this is the case too tbh. It was both a moral and reputational decision taken by the club. If it turns out he is not guilty then it may have been a poor decision in hindsight, but not an easy one to have to make either. Can’t see us due anything myself unless it proceeds to a charge and due process, the way I read it, it was at our discretion to suspend the player. I’d be surprised if insurance covered it to for the same reason, but I don’t really know.
Single handedly ended Ricky Ryder/stattosuper, so not all bad. Here’s what a suspended player cost us this season in the accounts:
Wages: 5.2 mil
Ammortisation: 8.9 mill
Annual Cost: 14.10 mill
Basically 14.10 mill just wasted on the square root of nothing in the last year.
Shockingly bad.
Insurance won’t cover that mate. No chance. On wages, I suspect insurance will cover.

Suspension was a club decision. They were free to play him If they chose.I cant see why insurance wouldnt mate. It's the sort of thing you would insure against, not the specific alleged allegation, but the broader concept of arrest.

Insurance policies for football will be narrow and extremely limited because otherwise they would be prohibitively expensive.
