The Everton Board Thread

But weren't fan protests essentially aimed at removing the board for this very reason ? That they had no experience in running a PL club and we were lagging behind the rest ?

For me its an opportunity for the club to cast its net wide and bring in real quality but we seem to automatically go down the route of "local blues".

We have to see who else is on the board first. If there are say 6 people with different experiences then these two would be fine to add a bit of local knowledge to the other voices.

No, the fan protest were aimed at the board because they were demonstrably incompetent. Given that none of them had significant experience in running anything as complex as the club that they should turn out to be incompetent should not have been a surprise.

As for casting the net wide and bringing in real quality - they can still do that, but its going to be necessary to root the club in something local if only to provide cover and advice to the rest of the board as they make what might be unpopular changes.

I don’t think that was the case…..you can’t argue that your Chairman has no experience of running a PL football club when he has been a director / owner / Chairman since 1989. The reason people wanted them out was because they were crap and incompetent and had failed time and time again and had overseen a sh1tshow culminating in a lot of wasted expenditure, two successive relegation battles after slipping down the league and doing it all whilst allegedly abusing the financial rules of the game.

I trust Hunter much more than that Kopite divvy Maddock.

Im just bewildered by the cognitive hypocrisy on display.

The fans moaning about jobs for the boys appointing of local evertonians are made up that we appear to be appointing.... two more local evertonians lol

Villa are hiring that Monchi lad after Purslow departed today.

We need to be appointing football men who've ran clubs successfully. Not blokes who run a chain of sun bed shops or a building firm.
What an amazingly ill informed post this is .
If you can’t be bothered to accurately research the CV’s of those you’re attempting to pillory, why bother.
You just come across like a petulant child throwing out insults he doesn’t know the meaning of.

No, the protests were aimed at removing the board because of their inexcusable performance.

The proof is in the pudding and they had failed us continuously. Their inexperience was assumed to be the reason but if they had done a fantastic job nobody would have been arsed.

"Cast the net far and wide" but you only want to consider people with previous football experience. Given where we are as a club right now anyone with previous experience we can attract will be someone who's likely been sacked for poor performance. If they aren't then it will be someone new and you'll complain that they're inexperienced or not good enough to stir the pot and WUM some more.

Give us five names beyond Purslow you want.
I’m not saying he would come (and I know it’s Brighton) but I would be looking at that Paul Barber you know. What he has done there with Tony Bloom is incredible and I listened to his interview with Jake Humphreys the other day. He struck me as a really intelligent, effective fella. CEOs moving is rare (the last time I recall was Peter Kenyon from Man Utd to Chelsea) but you never know

Good on you mate for a sensible post and not poor attempts at wummery.

If these lads come in then they get my support I just have reservations based on their CV's when you look at what the club actually needs right now.

I’d be surprised if MSP would construct a new Board entirely of inexperienced football people. I would expect there will be experience on there….Peter Ridsdale anyone?

Painting two independently wealthy and successful Evertonian business owners being recruited to the board as "jobs for the boys" and somehow comparable to Kenwright promoting our charity manager to CEO and giving the panda fondler a board seat is laughable.

What do you mean you can’t see the clear parallels between this and appointing Francis Jeffers as a youth coach?
