The Everton Board Thread

Its not ...she studied at Manchester Business School/UMIST, under Professor Cary Cooper. My wife was his secretary at the time. A Professorship is an award which is granted for a high level of excellence in your chosen course. Prof DBB was an excellent earner of her Professorship. She has been head hunted by many top international firms and it will be a sad day when we eventually lose her to one of the top international jobs.
It is an honorary title. She is not a "real" professor.

It must be great to be Kenwright. Sells the majority of his shares at a massive profit, yet gets to keep his beloved Chairman's seat and still has major influence at this club.

It's the equivalent of selling your house but continuing to live there and have a massive say in how it's run despite banking a load of cash on it's sale. Talk about having your cake and eating it.

'The Board' Definition; two words, first word Cluster...

Paul Tran (Toffeeweb) nailed it, Moshiri has 'Gone Native'. Not only has he 'gone Native' he's an 'Absentee Native'..which maybe a bit harsh as he does have a 'day job'...which can't help either.

So the new Organ Grinder sits in Monaco and the Ex Organ Grinder sits in London.
That only leaves their various on site Monkeys all hitting their metaphorical type writers trying to write deathless Shakespearean prose, but only succeeding in making McGonigall look good.

Benitez is on a hiding to nothing.

This board are in many ways similar to the government of this country. They are getting away with absolute murder due to the facts that their audience are so apathetic or too weather beaten that they cannot even question or muster a protest.

The club like the government have been so mismanaged and millions upon millions have been frittered away due to poor business decisions. The 2 year contract for Rondon being the latest in a long line in this Evertonian s hit show.

We can keep blaming managers, but the reality is that the people at the top aren’t running the club as a business, it’s still a cosy boys club which has been installed by Kenwright and continued by Moshiri.

It’s not unusual for owners of PL clubs especially to have a ‘day job’ and not be based overseas - some aren’t even at the majority of games. With technology remote working has broken down these barriers.

I've been quite a strong defender of Moshiri and the board. Main reason is that you want them to be successful.

However, after Saturday, they officially lost me. To endure that 13 minutes of football torture at 2.45am in the morning has left me scarred.

This current board have had two wins - the stadium and our committment to the community. Fair play to them on both.

Notwithstanding that the two successes are off-field, the on-field performance for a Club like Everton and with the investment received is a disgrace.

We have gone backwards, not forwards.

The recruitment (outside of Richarlison, DCL and Godfrey) - shambolic
The managerial appointments (particularly Koeman and Silva) - shambolic
The academy - shambolic
The sport science department - shambolic

"Nothing but the best" - we have been anything but. We have been "mediocre is fine"

I know there are no cutting edge arguments in the above, but anyway you spin it we have completely failed on field.

After 500m (approx 275m net) when we have three injuries to a CB, Forward and CM and we still have a championship quality squad that gets turned over by Watford at home 5-2 is embarrasing.

This club has accepted this for too long. It's time we went ruthless, if that means compromising some of our 'family club' morals, then so be it. It's time.

….isn’t it the case that many of the wealthy owners live abroad and largely defer day-to-day running of the clubs to others?

I’m more concerned with the processes at Everton. We employ a DoF yet he can’t bring players in without the authority of the Manager. The Manager (and apparently Moshiri) bring their own targets in. I’m not exactly sure what Brands does, he has the power of a seat on the board but is not empowered where transfers are concerned.

The process doesn’t support a consistent playing strategy & has resulted in significant waste.

Brands gets the blame but it’s the process we should be challenging.
