The Everton Board Thread

But wait a minute, Benitez is one of your favourite Everton managers. You can't have it both ways.
No, I supported him like a good Evertonian, I also acknowledged he wasn't in anyway responsible for the mess we have found ourselves in over the last 2 years.
But we shouldn't of found ourselves in a situation were he was our only option, only Moshiri can be blamed for that.

Inappropriate Language
Only this board of directors would provide & sign off the answers to the FAB questions and think they were in any way acceptable. They’ve completely had the FAB reps off, they might as well scrap the FAB after this shambles.

Just mind boggling incompetence and self preservationism - the equivalent of pouring petrol on a raging fire.

Get out of our club you lying shower of [Poor language removed].

Not particularly impressed by the way the questions were worded, they were relatively easy for the club to navigate.

For example…’Is there any truth in the rumour that the club has been placed in special measures by the Premier League?’.

I would have worded it thus…..’Has the club been involved in discussions with the Premier League over transfers to stay within profit and sustainability rules, either now or at any time in the past?’

I just think the answers we were going to get were always going to be ‘wishy washy’ so the wording needed to be water tight.

Any single question put forward in writing could have the equivalent of a straight bat blocking shot reply given in a written response. To your version of the question, they can say something along the lines "We are in dialogue with the PL to ensure the club operate within the rules and guidelines they have set out, this is sensible practice to avoid the risk of any financial or sporting penalties."

Doesn't exactly tell us much does it? Being on the naughty step with the PL and therefore having a gentleman's agreement to work with them to ensure we don't get anything worse is different than breaking the rules and being under a transfer embargo that would be known to all and sundry. In the absence of any official sanction it allows the club to put out a vague response.

The FAB could have asked "Does the club need PL approval to sign players due to breaking our being very close to breaking the P&L sustainability rules?" and the same response could still apply.

To put flesh on the bone we would need an open dialogue meeting where you could immediately ask a follow up question to any response given.

Ultimately though the answer to the question you really want to know (why are we so flumped financially, didn't the club have any kind of plan?) would be as simple as "We did have a financial plan in place but after securing a world class manager (Ancelotti) we decided to back him to the very limits of P&L rules as this was viewed as the best way to progress the club in the shortest time frame. Unfortunately the failure to obtain European football for the following season and the lower than expected finishing position which led to an expected prize money shortfall of between 11 and 15 million pounds severely impacted the budget for the 2021/22 season and was only marginally better for the 2022/23 season due to loss of commercial partners".

Qweg oqweef can get in the bin with his mentor Prenno and the rest of the lying swines on the EFC board.

They could tell me the sky is blue and water is wet and I’d have to check before believing them - they have burned any credibility and are finished here, with there continued lies.

Moshiri should just launch them - they will be a barrier to any investment or sale and I pray he must see that.

I like Greg personally, or at least don't mind him, but he was played like an absolute fiddle by Prentice over that rubbish headlock story. Was told of heinous allegations being made against supporters by his ex-boss and then published them without doing any investigate work at all. A rookie mistake by a supposed seasoned journalist. Rather than focusing on learning the lesson itself though (to never trust anything the Everton board feed you) he acted like a sulking toddler and started blocking people who were giving him (mostly) justified stick. Obviously there was a couple of cranks, it's twitter FFS, but he threw a massive pity party for himself rather than hold his hands up. Was a bit arl arse for Paddy Boyland, the other EFC writer for the Athletic, because he caught some of the blow back also when it was nothing to do with him.

The overall sticking point from that episode for me though is what a horrible rat Prentice outed himself as. Being an idiot Kenwright loyalist is one thing, but using a former colleague, and supposed friend, the way he did to get despicable lies published on a well-known and trusted platform? What a lovely sounding fella.

Deserves to be lumped in with the rest of them, never welcome at Goodison ever again.

“Our strategy is underpinned by the culture of the Club, characterised by the core values of Ambition, Authenticity, Determination and Family and the behaviours defined in line with those values.”

The above phrase caught my attention. I am intrigued about how the core value of ´authenticity’ makes anyone better at their job and how ‘authentic’ club officials/employees at various levels are in their daily work!!
Also regarding ‘family’; best person for the job or ‘best person who is already part of the club?’
What ‘behaviours’ do those values lead to?

Are these core values our new motto????? We’re going to need a bigger badge!!!

Greg O'Keefe has had no problem writing client articles for Bill Kenwright and Denise Barrett-Baxendale over years. The headlock gate story he published 14 January and its headline merely allowed fans to see precisely what Greg O'Keefe is about

Dictated to him by the club and he had no problem writing it

Then participated in Prentice's attempts to rewrite the narrative a few days later, after the club said it would not comment on 'historical events' the very same day

Denise Barrett-Baxendale's writing style

Very clear

Throw in some fancy words and people will believe it

Since I had raised it I thought I had better do a bit of reading about it! It was mainly TLDR mission statement/staff training day stuff but since it mentioned (among several others) self-awareness, integrity, taking responsibility and humility I think it is boss, we need plenty of it and it will have us bombing up the league and winning cups very soon!!!

Oh please, do stop with this nauseating Kenwright love-in.
It's important in any forum / debate to have contrasting points of view, but this guy is really going too far.

How can we be sure he isn't a club plant?

If he is and is just feeding club sanctioned propaganda, can you act?

Are you sure about that?

Baxendale has been here since 2018. Kenwright decades. Its not worked yet.
