The Everton Board Thread

"The creation of an independent regulator last month which will give them so-called 'back-stop powers' to prevent takeovers".

Faceless bureaucrats who can pick and choose which owners can buy into which football club - whatever next.

I guarantee this organisation wouldn't prevent some Shiekh buying Man Utd or Liverpool but God forbid if they ever bid for an Everton type club.
I agree. Although I think it works both ways.
Murky Chinese consortium would be allowed to buy Everton but godforbid they bought one of the establishment

The Daily Mail online have twice in 5 days written highly dubious things about the club. The shareholders situation etc.

I've yet to see one thing that is correct

As I commented on here on Sunday

I'm of the opinon they are doing it purely for clicks. Baiting people

Then if it's wrong the club should reply or maybe take legal action.

I know these things take time and there are all sorts of legal hoops and the like that need to be jumped through when undertaking corporate activities; but these MSP investors seem to have been taking lessons from our current board. Are they presently mulling a bid, or have they moved to making a verbal offer now?

What I don't understand is, if a regulator was deeply suspicious, why would they only investigate in the event of the club being sold? Why wouldn't they just investigate anyway?
More to the point...... Why are people paying any attention to an a highly speculative article in the daily fail?

Any legislation (if it ever comes I to force) is AT LEAST 12 months away.

Then if it's wrong the club should reply or maybe take legal action.

Why would they do that?

They're not being financially harmed by it it. Its annoying. That is about it.

There's a cost benefit consideration for taking legal action.

All we can say here is that the Daily Mail online, is engaging in click bait currently.

They moved some time ago from a verbal offer

The new independent football regulator will have defined powers, and that will relate to sale/purchases of clubs.

There is a different UK Government regulator with regard to sanctions:

That is the OFISI below.

They are constantly monitoring for sanctions compliance. If they had concerns regarding Farhad Moshiri they would be investigating and acting now. Indeed they are constantly scrutinising the financial sector.

Basically, Moshiri would already be under very public investigation. Not only here but also from EU and US authorities. US authorities under which MSP fall under would also not hesitate to get involved if they thought that this would be breaching sanctions.

You are entirely right. The Daily Mail online article has little logical sense to it. Its click bait. Following on from the Sunday article they published regarding MSP.

There are definitely people publishing things with absolutely no basis behind them.
