"The fans wanted him sacked"

Manchester City sacked Peter Reid the season after they attained their greatest ever Premier League points total. Sunderland also sacked Peter Reid not long after attaining their greatest ever Premier League points total. Ipswich should have sacked George Burley the season after their greatest ever Premier League points total, but they failed to do so and they were promptly relegated. They haven't been in the top division since.

You are clearly getting a hard-on over this best Premier League points total thing, as if it is an unequivocal indicator of future success. When the truth is that Martinez took over a team that was regularly finishing between 5th to 8th place under the stewardship of a far superior manager who achieved Everton's greatest ever season in the Premier League, and managed to make them finish... wait for it... in 5th place.

Martinez has since then caused Everton to regress about 15 years, and is currently overseeing our worst points total after 28 games in about 80 years, and the quality of football is the worst I have seen in over 30 years. In summary, he's the biggest clown that I have ever seen in charge at Everton.

Let's not just give half the analogy with Moyes....after all, the Ginger One took us to 17th in his second season. So, suggesting we've regressed 15 years is simply not the case. If the football is the worst you've seen in 30 years you've been facing away from the pitch for large chunks of it....some of the away days (and home games) under Moyes were dreadful, likewise Walter Smith. If we're comparing the two managers let's at least be fair about it. Comparing their 1st two seasons is a fair barometer as RM has only done two seasons, and based on that comparison why wouldn't RM be given at least another season?

Kieno.
Sack him if we have a bad week and then do what ?
Appoint who as manager ?

I am not trying to get at you , I would like to know which worthwhile manager you would get at this stage of the season.

Oh come on. In Moyes' second season, he had a squad assembled by the proceeds of a car boot sale and a very young Rooney. Martinez has, according to many, the best squad Everton have had in nearly 30 years. Plus I don't believe we were ever in the potential danger we're in now. We were well safe before we started losing all our games that season

Anybody temporarily that will give us a new manager bounce and make Goodison loud again - like on Moyes' first day!

Anybody that will change things up and bring a bit of optimism and then get Bilic in the Summer.

RM is here for the long term. He will not be sacked, we won't be relegated and he won't resign.
He's had a poor season and been right royally assisted by poor individual performances from seasoned pro's and the inexperience of the next generation. It's part of the redesign of the squad and the playing ethos of a Club which simply can't splash cash on wholesale, rapid change. Why is it so strange to people that doing it through evolution rather than (financial) revolution takes time?

Maybe cos people cant see evolution, I mean, normally when something evolves, it gets better? right? All I can see is regression.

And we still have around 30 points to play for this season. In comparison to the teams we were competing with last season we were at car boot level....it's all comparative. Utd for example spent massively as did Liverpool.
If you want Martinez out then fine, but at least see the situation with some clarity.

But Moyes took over a rubbish squad. Martinez didn't.

1st Season - Moyes got poor players working above their station. Martinez got good players working above their station.

2nd Season -Moyes couldn't do it again and players reverted back to their level for Moyes. Martinez can't seem to do it again and the players have fallen well below their levels.

Not much in it but the main point is Moyes had to rebuild. Martinez didn't need to rebuild but has chosen to do so anyway. This could backfire on him big style.

Evolution isn't one way traffic.....there's always some backward steps and readjustment. I think the issue is people expect only significant improvement and unfortunately, however much we want it to happen, it's totally unrealistic....not just for us but for the vast majority of Clubs.

Moyes seemed to manage it.

Without spending the 50m that Martinez has.

Fair comment....but if he didn't need to rebuild why the mass meltdown in the forums each transfer window? I think it's fair to say that both managers had equal issues to overcome and have faired remarkably similarly over their first two seasons.

Im sorry but thats utter rubbish mate.

Hahaha we had the 3rd highest net spend in the league last summer ffs

And how many of those 30 points do you reckon we'll stick in the bag mate? On the entire seasons form we're talking 10 tops - 38 points 38 games - there's your clarity mate
