Fergie also.

The difference between Kendall in 83/84 and Martinez now is that Kendall was still looking for the magic formula and found it, whereas Martinez has had the magic formula and lost it, and doesn't look like finding it again anytime soon. Bingham and Lee had their peaks as Everton managers, but that counted for diddly when they hit the buffers, mid-table obscurity was unacceptable then and should be now, as should flirting with relegation.

The points tally is a nonsense argument anyway, didn't AVB get more than Redknapp yet finish a position lower? even last season 72 points we got that didn't get us CL was I think the 2nd largest total to not get CL which to me suggests it was a weak league last season, this is no better we are just a lot worse, even if the points tally does count for something (someone get the trophy polish out) then that means that this current low, the lowest we have been on at this stage of a season for 60+ years has to count also. But not in davek world it would seem.

I doubt anyone thinks we will go down, so this delusion that everyone who is not happy with Martinez will go away all happy if we win a game needs to be thrown out as well. Fact is this is not good enough, I don't expect he will be sacked, unless he relegates us, anything above that he will be in charge of this pre- season, the summer transfer market(shudders) and the start of next season. So we are basically going to waste another summer on the fraud and this talented group of players we have will be watered down by the likes of Cleverley and Lennon and we will become the Sunderland of the North-West, with a load of other clubs has been players.

I for one cannot wait.

This is my biggest concern. He will set us back even further, leaving our next manager with a far more difficult job than the one he inherited.

Yep because everyone remembers Fergie relegating a top tier club the season before he joined UTD, they all remember him being in a relegation dogfight 5 out of his 6 seasons as a top flight manager.

Whats that got to do with it. The Utd fans were being very fickle just like the Everton fans now. I pat him on the back for keeping Wigan up longer than they should and winning the FA Cup. Total different ball game having players earning championship wages/league 1 wages and expecting them to stay up. I am all for giving him a chance and if we go down I will go down on you.

Manchester City sacked Peter Reid the season after they attained their greatest ever Premier League points total. Sunderland also sacked Peter Reid not long after attaining their greatest ever Premier League points total. Ipswich should have sacked George Burley the season after their greatest ever Premier League points total, but they failed to do so and they were promptly relegated. They haven't been in the top division since.

You are clearly getting a hard-on over this best Premier League points total thing, as if it is an unequivocal indicator of future success. When the truth is that Martinez took over a team that was regularly finishing between 5th to 8th place under the stewardship of a far superior manager who achieved Everton's greatest ever season in the Premier League, and managed to make them finish... wait for it... in 5th place.

Martinez has since then caused Everton to regress about 15 years, and is currently overseeing our worst points total after 28 games in about 80 years, and the quality of football is the worst I have seen in over 30 years. In summary, he's the biggest clown that I have ever seen in charge at Everton.
Peter Reid: WRONG.

He finished 5th, 5th, then 9th....the season after that he was canned.

This appears to be happening....Naismith is tying down a place in the side, squeezing out Barkley and Mirrallas.....Barry is stealing a place that a midfielder with legs (Besic) could use.....Howard can't be dropped because he's having a strong season......Hibbert got played at left back in front of Garbutt unbelievably. The dross is rising to the top in this team and real footballers will fk this off anytime now.

Have a look what Ferguson had done in Scotland before he went to UTD, he had proved himself as a top Drawer manager. That's what it has to do with it.

To be fair, you've ignored the rest of his post which has very valid points
I only asked one question: what manager has run up a record PL total for their clubs and then been sacked the following season? I'm sure there must be one, but no one has provided it yet or the details to back it up.

Strange.
