Moores refused to sanction the sale of the club to Steve Morgan (a lifelong red) because Morgan had said he would make it public how much debt they were in. Moores blocked him so he went and bought Wolves, instead.

Moores blocked him on the point of principle nobody makes such things about them known publicly but he forgot to buy Morgan's silence so Morgan made it public anyway (I think it was £194m at the time?) and that he would have cleared it in full and made them debt free but Moores had refused.

Peter Moores and Kenwright were, perhaps, cut from the same cloth.
