I enjoyed Norweigan Wood but didn't think much of Sputnik Sweetheart. Was going to pick up 1Q84 but was put off with the sheer size of it. Murakami writes so elegantly about even the most mundane things.

Norwegian wood was the first thing of his I read, then I decided to pick this up on a deal.

It's long, but it's split into 3 books.

Mutzo - have you read "The White Spider: The story of the North Face of the Eiger" by Heinrich Harrer?

No mate I haven't - but I will make a point to read it. I recently saw the IMAX version of Nordwand which recounts the 1936 attempt at the north face by Hinterstoisser and Kurz. Thought it was totally epic.

aah Damn good book that, Secret speech, for me is just as good, third one, Agent 6, is OK ... He sets the scene of Stalin's Russia Superbly
