The GOT Book Club

That story is partly true but people always confuse the books. Roverandom is the book he wrote for his son Michael in 1925 I believe. That one is VERY much a kids story though. I remember my Grandad reading it to me when I was about 5.
Nobody ever read to me.grandmother had a library full of books that they never read.used to lock meself in there for hours reading everything, not understanding half the words i was so young but used to be happy as fook in there:dance:

Fascinating biography. Amongst the many kinks, obsessions and peculiarities of the man another stand out feature was his priggishness. It started early and never left him. He had little success with women in his early years due to this, as well as being ad boring as the transfer thread.
Later, after his marriage, his secretary became his mistress. Any other time and place he would have been an obscure office clerk.

I was on a flight last night and watched 'the last days of Anne Frank'

What a story, which now has made me want to read her diary, or the book about it

My own reccomendation would be Charles Dickens 'the old curiosity shop' best book I've ever read.

Another one for you if you haven't read it ?

The Wasp Factory - Iain Banks.

It's his first book and imo still his best.

The world as seen through the eyes of a very disturbed teenager " Frank " who lives on an island off Scotland.

Powerful reading. With a truly jaw dropping ending.

I think I was about 14 when I first read this. Spooked the hell out of me. Disturbing!
