anyone clued up on gym-related nutrition and stuff like that? Since around beginning of May I've started going regularly again. Started with 3 full body workouts a week, now scaled back to 2 as I was getting exhausted. I've also found in that time that my appetite has gone through the roof. Meals that used to fill me up now leave me hungry and I end up regularly having big binges at bed time so I'm not too hungry to sleep.

Seems a bit extreme for me for only 2-3 workouts a week. Has anyone else ever experienced that?
Rather than doing all body workouts why don’t you split them up into muscle groups mate? You’ll see more gains and give your muscles the rest in between sessions they need.

It’s normal that it will fire your appetite, your body is craving increased energy. There’s too much wrote on diets and macros etc, just eat healthy and at the right times. If you’re expending say 400 calories or so for 45 minutes weights and this is catching up with you before bed then add a snack before you train. Munching before bed is gonna effect both sleep and weight.
 
Had a nice Saturday session yesterday which I use as a recovery session for touching up muscle groups I want to work on or just low weight high rep and pause shaping. The treadmill at the end is the final push in bringing in the weekend of eat and drink what I want as a reward. As was the obligatory steam room after with my fresh post weight pump on, should any female or indeed male want to sit with me and cast and admiring glance.

I can write stuff like this all day because my brain is a horrendous hype machine but the reality is I’m a finished, chubby middle aged sweating mess trying desperately and slowly failing to hold on to a youth gone. I avoid making eye contact with anything lest I look like creepy Under Armour coated pedophile.

Yeah I'd like to split them up but don't really have time to get to the gym more than 2-3 times per week unfortunately. Although I guess splitting them means the sessions are shorter so maybe I'll have a think of it. And yeah I should eat a bit more during the day I guess. Had a mad binge last night. No matter what I ate I didn't feel satiated at all lol

Probably earlier in the day I wasn't eating enough and the body was taking what it needed.

You know your own body mate so experiment with different timings and see if it feels better. Also hydrate well as that effects appetite. If you’re feeling a pang before bed then a caffeine free green tea helps reduce severity I find.

For your workout splits try doing something like chest, biceps, abs one day, shoulders back and triceps another and then legs day for your third and see how that effects timing and progress. You’ll be able to fit in more exercises per muscle group to drive progress and allow the others to recover well.

Even better speak with a trained professional at the gym or wherever and really reap the benefits mate. Is right and good luck, one of the best habits we can give ourselves at any age.
Yes will do mate deffo, cheers. Emailed a PT last week and haven't heard back yet but will find one eventually. I'm 42 now and determined to get hench

Nailed. And then walk about naked in sliders after getting your mate to inject you in the arse.

Nowhere in Liverpool is “lad” used so excessively than in a gym. I count how many times I hear it used when training and have got above 40 in one particularly enjoyable session.
