The Moyes Era

Its relative - but ours is prob better fiscally in terms of amounts. The difference is margins really, they have capacity through the stock market and bond issue to write down debt, not that we dont we just wont and infrastructure to make a profit - we dont. It could very easyily go belly up a year or two outside the CL circa if when Ferguson retires.

I think you've realsied your error and changed the debate to be honest. Man Utd were brought into it as a debate about value for money. There's no comparison in that regard.

With debt I believe ability to service it and what it costs you is the biggest single factor. I believe they now owe around £400m. which they can comfortably deal with, all the while winning trophies.

We have £45m??? and are constantly in fear of our players being sold or the banks 'killing us'.

I don't know what a few years outside the CL would do to them. I do know it's highly unlikely and by the time AF is gone the debt prob will be too. It may even be a reason he's stayed on.

United sell players because they can, Everton sell players because if they didn't they would go bust.

As long as Man United remain in the Champions league year on year (something is almost a certainty regardless of manager because of their financial backing) then their debt will be paid off sooner rather than later. When that happens they will have almost total security.

United's debt is down to just over £300m net, far less than the £1.1bn it once was.

While were on that subject SAF joined them from Aberdeen. He managed to make a set of players from the mighty Aberdeen believe they could beat Real Madrid and they did. They also split the Old Firm up.

Is there another one of his type out there?

Let's be honest it will take a man of that calibre to get us challenging for titles and that is where all clubs should aim regardless of history or what you have done before. It's the essence of sport.

Apparently David Moyes is the next Alex Ferguson.

Its pointless comparing Everton to teams like United or Wigan.

Im not sure who you could compare Everton to really.

Theres not many Clubs around our League postion who has the same net spend.

You can ignore the 1 Season wonders such as Newcastle, cos next Season they will be where they belong.

Pound for Pound, there isnt a Manager in the League that compares to David Moyes, thats something the Anti-Moyes gang forgets.

Look at the teams above us, then ask yourself should we be ahead of them.

/shrug

Obviously I reckon we're better on paper than Newcastle, although they've bought well, hell they've done a bit of a Moyesy on us to be fair.

Pound for pound I agree, I guess a lot of people want more. Being realistic is hard for a fan though, especially with a motto like ours emblazoned on our shirt.

I do think he's done pretty much as much as he can for us, and we'll continue to be what we are now with him. Without him it's crystal ball stuff, we could go up or down, that's the gamble for me.

This, although some Moyes lovers will insist we'll be relegated if he leaves and he is Jesus re-incarnated.

I think we would definately be in relegation trouble if he left and was replaced by a mediocre manager.

The problem we have is, I don't believe we are able to attract a better manager, because of the [Poor language removed] running the club.

I think we should all agree here that the problem is Bill Kenwrong. This will bring all Evertonians together.
