The requirements for Italian football are not the same as for English football Zat, I wouldn't just assume everything will be a carbon copy of Roma as I don't think it will be imo. It's not a good sign if they do decide to do that imo.

Im not sure why a managers nationality is a requirement?

De Zerbi looks like he's chucked his toys out the pram at Marseille.
July 2025. De Zerbi and Maupay.

What happened?

Wasnt sure post it ut well some of the names have been linked here

  • Allegri said no (guess he won't be coming here then?)
  • Friedkins weren’t convinced on Lampard (ok)
  • Couldn’t find a deal with Terzic (cryptic - does that also count him out for us?)
  • Sarri doesn’t want to join a club mid season (count him out in January if it comes to it, then)
  • Mancini waited, then decided he didn’t want to wait anymore (seems to have been some way down the wish list?)
  • Montella wanted a 3 year deal, Friedkins were only willing to offer 1.5
Interesting insight into their priorities and the market - wonder how much we can infer from it..

I think we’re basically starting from scratch with a total rebuild, so a 65 year old who’s never stayed anywhere more than 3 years just seems like a really awful option to me. I think we need a young manager with fresh ideas who the fans can take to and who can theoretically oversee a 5 year plan, that’s why I say terzic fits the profile more than the other 2. Whether he’s the right one I don’t know, but I don’t want us going for a ‘name’ or for just another bog standard journeyman, I want us to go and get someone to really build something.
Its very rare for a manager to be in post 5 years these days I think? Off the top of my head anyway

Yeah it’s nowhere near as common these days. To be honest if you have the right structures in place then it doesn’t really matter. Brighton seem to change managers regularly enough and always do well.
Yeah I agree. You need to run well above the manager level. We need to get that part right with the new regime

Yeah it’s not always going to happen (although I’m not sure it’s all that rare for managers who perform well) but that’s why I said theoretically. Sarri just doesn’t seem like someone who would be here long term and I think that needs to be the aim whether it actually happens in the end or not.
