We need to stay up. I thought at the start of the season it would be boring midtable with dyche. But it doesn't look that way any longer. I'd go for Moyes till the end of the season unless there's an obvious long-term replacement (which I'm not sure there is).

If Moyes was willing to take a 6-month gig or even an 18-month gig I'd bring him in right now.

I'd say that immediately brings back the feel good factor, unites a fan base that hates Dyche, guarantees safety IMO, lifts every player up a level, and every fan because we all know the last few games at GP would see us battle for every point every minute every game etc etc - plus of course, you can spin a great narrative/optic over how fitting it is Moyes "comes home" to lead us from GP to BMD.

After the 6 months that take us to the end of this season (or end of the first year at BMD on an 18 month gig) Eddie Howe would be my No1 choice to go all out for if/when Newcastle want to step up a level. Superb modern coach, proven at the top level, develops players, delivers results and entertainment (such as the modern game demands); just ticks every box me for. Hugely underrated IMO.

Unless Unai Emery wants to come here for some bonkers reason, Eddie Howe would be top of my list, be it start of next season or 1 year into BMD. Give him a decade like Moyes had, let him do his thing his way, build a club from top to bottom like Bournemouth but with far greater resources, back him every step - that's a journey I'd love to be on and one I think would take us to banging on the door of the top table again in no time.

(I know it wont happen, ya don't need to tell me so)

Might as well have told us what vogue models you'd like to hook up with then. 😄
I'm saving myself for when multi millionaire Hollywood A-lister Margot Robbie comes to her senses, realizes I'm the only man for her, revokes that stalking ban and runs away with me.

(Don't tell the wife though. I've just about managed to convince her it's pronounced "only flans" and that credit card charge is a bakery related website...)

Moyes would be a big red flag about the Friedkins for me. We need a fresh start, not going back to Moyes. Would split the fan base down the middle.
Valid point, but which appointment wouldnt split the fanbase though eh? They will look at his experience, saving West Ham, coming back and taking them to Europe. I think it just ticks all the boxes.

Bet they wont even know we’re split over Moyes when they look at the job he’s done here last time.

From a risk based perspective Moyes would be a sensible short term choice

He’s got a proven track record of moving bottom half clubs up the league into European qualification even with financial constraints, as evidenced by his time at Everton and United.

He knows the PL, the club, and how to battle in the bottom half so removed the whole Kompany/Martin scenario of a manager playing football a squad can’t execute.

If in two and a half seasons he had us back up challenging for Europe whilst our financial issues continue to be washed through then I’d imagine most would see this as a successful bridging period for another manager to then pick up.

The major problem is some of the fanbase just won’t have anyone who fits a certain profile (old, British, pragmatic, been in PL before, can actually organise a defence), so they’ll be protesting Moyes before he even got through the door.

The downside of any appointment is huge at the moment (e.g relegation) the upside is limited, we’re not crashing the top 4 with this squad regardless of who is manager and the difference between the league positions below is not club defining compared to being relegated.

Therefore unless the Friedkin can attract a superstar name (e.g a Mourinho) who would guarantee results, then I could easily see them making a risk based decision on someone like Moyes for the short term. They’ve got an investment to protect that is still a precarious one until we can improve the squad quality massively.
