Allegri: Left Juventus as he wanted to try a new league apparently -- rumour was England but never happened. He's the most impressive of the 'experienced' managers imo

Terzic: Fell out with the senior players in Dortmund. Fans hated the cowardly football and rumour was he only got the job as he was mates with the CEO. Stunted development of younger players.

Sarri: Only plays one wa

Potter: The style he uses is a real underdog type football and if he had a top CF at Brighton they'd have been near the top of the table every year. Instead they had Maupay & Welbeck missing chance after chance

Mancini: Chequebook manager and we need to work within PSR not the whims of a bloke who wants to spend spend spend

McKenna: Im pretty behind this one. Young manager who has done amazingly well at Ipswich. Could he be ready for the next step? I think so
Not sure about mckenna if honest havent really seen enough of him to want him here. Just feel whoever does come in needs to have experience as we have so much to do

a few things. will they want dyche with the players /he or thellwell will get to be players who can play the goofball?
If you look at what happened at Roma, they came in, kept the manager but unable to spend any money because the takeover was after the transfer window.

At the end of the season, they binned him and brought in Jose.

Now this season, they have sacked De Rossi and Ivan Juric which has seen Roma completely implode so they will be cautious.

I think Dyche has an opportunity to keep his job but December will be his reckoning. He has to improve rapidly.

During his time studying, McKenna spent time as a youth coach at Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City, Nottingham Forest, and Canadian side Vancouver Whitecaps.

2015-16 coached Spurs u18s (youth cup semis)
2016-18 coached Man Utd u18s (won division title)
2018-21 Man Utd Assistant manager

2021 - Ipswich manager. 7 wins & 7 clean sheets in 1st 10 games. 11 games unbeaten & club record of not conceding a goal.

2022-23 Promoted from league one in 2nd.

2023-24 Manager of the season, 2nd in championship and promotion.

Rejected approaches from Brighton and Chelsea.

He looks to be the next top manager emerging and we should try to bring him in to take us into the new era.

11games 10 pts

We have 8 more games until the end of Dec.

He's got to have at least 20pts by then or surely hes walking a tightrope.

zzzz

As I said, Houghton was sacked for finishing on 40 points.

Potter come in. 1st season. 41 points. 2nd season. 41 points.

Sure, the 51 points in his third season was pretty good, but not amazing - they spent a good few bob in that time as well.

News to me?

I've just sense checked here and Potter spent just short of £100m net his first 2 seasons as he took Brighton from Houghtons 40 points to 41 points 19/20 and 41 points in 20/21.

Even in his last summer/season 21, with a big sale in Ben White, they still pretty much broke even that window as they spent.

So after sales he spent just short of £100m, and brought in 28 players.

Which put them in a stable position in the league and did it with a progressive modern style of play. It's hard to paint a negative when if you look at every team that are promoted and the majority have to spend to survive. Look at Forest for example.

On the other end of the spectrum is Dyche who did the same with nothing and got Europe. But the negative labelled at him is his style of football and he also relegated them. Potter got the Chelsea job because of his approach and style rather than PPG and spending.

Ten Hag for example has something like 57% win percentage At United, spent a fortune, won trophies. Would people want him? Why not?

There's always an argument for and against anyone depending on what you want.

The need to change the narrative and attract quality players is far greater than the concern that is posed by the prospect of having to part ways with a quarrelsome manager in 2 or 3 years time.

The same thing happens with crap managers anyway. They also only last 2 or 3 years, but they don’t achieve or change anything in that time. In fact, some of them just make you worse!

The likes of Potter and Frank won’t change anything at all. They are the type of ‘happy to be here’ managers that we’d have got during the utterly unsuccessful Kenwright era.

I know why Moyes is sniffing around because he is a better manager than Dyche.

He has previous with us and I understood the fanbase to a degree.

He would be a stopgap for replacing Dyche at the most.

But The Friedkin Group have no association with the club's past so it would be a clean slate for them to appoint their man with their criteria.

I think they will keep both Dyche and Thelwell if they can until we move into Bramley Moore because it's a financial situation they can control and it gives them more time to find their successors.

I just don't think Dyche has long left given his current track record. If we drop into the relegation places, he'll be gone

@GrandOldTeam i think your comments about Potters points totals is fair but it doesnt tell the whole story (as above).

Look at Pochettino at Espanyol before joining Southampton. We can also point at Kompany now at Bayern.

Sometimes managers just suit certain teams based on the players, the style they want to play and what theyre trying to achieve.

This is why I'd go for McKenna at Ipswich. Hes been successful with them (2 promotions in 3 years) and has a background of youth football and being an assistant manager at United.

Someone like that has worked from the ground up and has experience leading young players and developing them, as well as experienced top players.

We need to build a new team/squad and get back into the top 6. I think the profile of McKenna suits that objective.
