I think my top 3 would be Christope Galtier, Roberto Mancini, Sebastian Hoeness.
I reckon these are the highest quality managers we might have a chance of getting with TFG backing.
Just read your post and it has broken my dream - absolutely no reason as to why but I actually dreamt that Mancini was being installed as our new Manager so my money is going on him.

Bloody hate it when I can't even have a good night's sleep without Everton ruining it!

Not saying it about hurzeler in particular because we obviously don’t know but there’s loads of managers who’ve had a short term impact but not kept it up. We need a manager who can make a long term difference and it’s not as easy as it seems. About 6 months ago glasner was the name on everyone’s lips and 6 months before that it was de zerbi but neither of them have kept it up. You’re right that there are managers out there but it’s really important we find the right one and don’t just stick a pin in a piece of paper saying ah he sounds decent.

Also just noticed someone’s mentioned Eddie Howe above and he’s another one. When he first went to Newcastle it was all ‘oh I was wrong about him just look at him go I wish we’d got him’ but now he’s reverted to type and has underperformed for 18 months.
Yeah I agree to be fair, I was more just making the point that I hope Thelwell and/or our new prospective owners are doing their due-diligence and we don’t just end up with an obvious choice/short term stop gap. Allowing us to hopefully get off the vicious horrible cycle we’ve been on for the best part of a decade 🥲

Our next appointment can't be someone who is 'worth a punt'. We need to get it right. Obviously every manager comes with risk though.
That's true
Carsley does have a fair bit of experience in setting up teams, knows a lot of highly rated youth players for the summer rebuild and is a highly rated coach.
The Everton link, though not at all necessary, just makes it all the sweeter.

Why Baines & Coleman? Just cos theyre former players?

For me, its simple...

Former player = Carsley
Upcoming = McKenna
English & experienced = Potter
Foreign = Allegri

That would be my shortlist with perhaps one or two Italians dropped in as well
That's not the worst list I've seen.

That precious 4 minutes after you wake up on a Sunday morning before remembering the match on a Saturday

Arteta was a punt!

I'd rather take a punt with the fantasy of smashing through the ceiling, than just being steady Eddie.
Yeah, because Arsenal and Everton and their respective positions in the league at the time are comparable.

I think we are better than Dyche has us looking but we are still a club that could be in danger of relegation with a bad run. Arsenal were never that.

David Weir as DoF and Lee Carsley as Head Coach would be a great and exciting move I think. A proven operator behind the scenes and a proven coach who knows how to win. Both would also get the backing of the majority once in situ due to their service as players, which is something we surely need for the first time in a while.
