Not a bad point at all.

I’d say anyone is a risk right now, the squad is terrible and whoever we get they’re gonna need 3/4 newbies.

I really hope there’s some joined up thinking between recruitment of manager and future players, we can’t afford to make any more errors with player trading.
Mate, just the mere suggestion that its actually been Thelwell speaking directly to Carsley and his agent is a huge step in the right direction for us imo. DoF actually getting to search for the manager for a change.

Yeah I’m very unsure of Carsley but I wonder if he would come in til the end of the season, much as their thinking is at Roma, to buy them time to come up with a longer term plan (or retain if he does well).

If any of the rumour is true I can’t see Thelwell fully being given his head to interview for a long term manager, while his own future is up in the air.
All this obviously with Carsley should be taken with a massive grain of salt, but it could be a masterstroke appointment...he could be the one who actually gets a tune out of this lot.

He's worked with Branthwaite and Garner so they will know what he's all about.

Being Evertonians we will naturally approach with an air of scepticism.

I can see upside and downside. The worry is that his biggest success has come in age group international football and that is two massive leaps to senior club football.

But he is very highly regarded as a coach and quite simply our players have been very badly coached for a long time so he could hopefully unlock a lot more in them IF he could also get to grips with the tactical element of the PL, and quickly.

Pretty much anyone is a risk until we sign 3/4 new players. We aren’t going to attract much at this point I wouldn’t think.

I can see the appeal of an interim manager and then hitting reset next summer, there’s a lot to consider for TFG when it goes through.

If they get this wrong and we go down it would be catastrophic.

100% mate...Any appointment at this point is a risk but I still feel we've got the squad to escape all this with shift in mentality and the few tweaks on the pitch.

He did it with England albeit after taking from a negative Southgate and got them playing more attacking expansive football...while I appreciate its international football, coaching is coaching.

won’t be an interim

won’t be carsley

I'm not sure he should jump at the chance of being an intermin. If true, this says to me he is someone who has faith in his own ability as a coach to warrant a permanent contract. Who ever comes in is a risk but if you anaylse Carsleys style and his results then he is likely to win you more games than we are currently seeing. He won't be perfect.
