Broja was brought in as an alternative/backup to the established strikers there but from his first touch as a sub looked far more dangerous and direct.

He has pace, can run with the ball, turns well, is selfish, sulks when asked to play wide, can press, great shot on him, fell out with the manager (cue more sulks), holds the ball up well, good passer (when he bothers).

I think other clubs also found him out a bit, big difference from being a unknown youth at the season's start to being seen as the main threat at the end. He was well marked towards the end of last season, didn't prosper.

You're paying as much for potential (a bit like Gordon) though with the right service he will get well into double figures this season.

Comparisons with a young Shearer are silly. Plus Shearer scored 18 goals at Saints in the season before his Blackburn transfer.

He's raw. If you want to stay up, he's probably enough. If you want to lift trophies, he probably isn't. We're discussing a different club with different aspirations.

If you give him a quality chance in the center of the box, it's probably ending up in the back of the net. He's not going to make stuff happen the way players like Salah and Kane do. The difference between someone who scores 7-10 and somebody who slots 20+ is that the latter player creates goals out of thin air on the regular. Those goals can easily be the difference between first and third, third and fifth, and advancing in the CL knockouts vs. elimination.

Someone like Broja offers the prospect of becoming one of those 20+ slotters if he tightens down some of his weaknesses. It's probably not happening this season, and Chelsea's fans aren't going to be patient with a Europa finish, so they would prefer to start someone else that offers the possibility of the extra goals now.
 

Isn't it just that we think he'll be available on loan and that Frank gave him his debut.

He's a huge improvement on our current back up and would at least get us 8 goals or so as opposed to the zero I expect currently from Rondon.

I think his name gets brought up still as we still expect Chelsea will let him go. Not because we feel he's the answer to all our problems.
 
He occupies the same space as Calvert-Lewin it would be a waste of his time and our limited funds him coming to Everton.
We need someone who provides more options than just an occasionally used back up CF.

Indeed, there should a word invented for this scenario, I like con or deceitful, wonder if Collins dictionary is up for some new words and definitions, here is hoping soft heads can understand...
 
Yeah, I dont get it. He might be a decent player, but based on his stats(havent seen him play much) he isnt pulling up any trees. Why he is wanted by so many on here is a mystery to me. Hes no Lukaku who had scored buckets for Westbrom at the same age.

Anthony Gordon has 4 and 2 in six months as a starter last season and i think you were nailing him last week as having no end product!

Chelsea can't score and he's not even been given a shout.

Unlike say Tammy Abraham who at his age was banging in 25 goals in the championship. And a year or so later getting 15 in the premiership
