I haven't been around here that long. Would someone explain the lawn mower
joke?

Its a reference to a Robert Elstone blog explaining why the Arteta, Beckford, Yak, Vaughan and Yobo money had apparently vanished into a black hole. He said that it had been spent on, amongst other things, lawn mowers.

They are going to come out in the green here, but a lot of that will get eaten by increased wages. Should be close to profit/loss neutral depending on wages.

What does all this mean for Everton? Top 4 got harder. Oh well. Up the toffees.

"Chelsea are favourites to sign England Under-21 defender Eric Dier, 19, who has a £4.2m buyout clause in his Sporting Lisbon contract."

Chelsea are just sweeping up Europe's top young players. Sadly, most of them will never get near their first team and you'd think the kids might start to realise that.

I reckon he'll be a good player in the future, but i'm happy with Stones, Dier's not that level yet and we don't have the cash to invest like that :(

Money talks, sadly

When have Chelsea ever produced one of their own I'd love to know, not even Terry counts as that. They nicked him from West Ham's academy by offering, you guest it, more money

Sickening... Bale is worth ~£94 million and we haven't gotten an offer higher than £28 million for THE PAIR of Baines and Fellaini. Is it that other teams see us as poor and therefore think we're more likely to accept lower offers?

won't affect the wage structure at all as they have shifted lots of top earners in the last two or so years so they have money to cover that scenario
