The summer 2013 Everton transfer rumourZ thread

Everton need to get their finances in order this summer for FFP. If we have used the new sky money to pay half the debt of, and say we sold Baines and Fellaini for £40m and replaced them with £20m players it would mean we are debt free and in a very very strong position for FFP.

FFP won't affect us for a while anyway as it only gets taken into account for european competitions. Even then it's over a few years figures.

FFP won't change a thing in my opinion. The big clubs will soon get rid of it.

Problem is, Spurs are run miles better than us. Yes, the Bale sale has been fantastic for them for what they have brought in. But, when they get the new ground sorted in the next few years, they will be in another stratosphere compared to us. Accounts from last year for spurs on the link

The difference in sponsorship, corporate and merchandising is huge, to the tune of tens upon tens of millions. We desperately need to improve on these fronts. We desperately need new corporate facilities.

That's wrong. The PL have introduced their own FFP rules which start from this season.

whats funny? FFP is starting to have a huge effect in England. See Man City and Chelsea as prime examples.

City 100m this window, Chelsea megabucks. Monaco 100+m, PSG megabucks. Real Madrid about to spend 110m on one player. All the clubs will do is find a way to get around it. It's a load of bollocks. Knowing Everton and Kenwright though that'll be their perfect excuse not to spend any money: "We simply do not generate any money so cannot spend any on the team."

man city have spent almost £100 mil in this window alone. What, exactly, do you think FFP is doing to curb their spending?

take a look at the players and WAGES they have signed. They have sold / released players like Balotelli (£9m a Year), Toure (£8m a year) and Tevez (£10m a year), plus they got £24m for Balotelli, they have replaced them with players who earn up to 3 times less than the players mentioned.

They may have shelled out up to £100m on fees, but with the reduction of wages over the contracts they wont be far off breaking even.

that post is just wrong. Chelsea havent spent 'mega bucks' infact quite the opposite. Madrid earn their money to spend, and will be able to spend huge under FFP.

Monaco and PSG just dont seem to give a ****, and knowing the French will hope to challenge UEFA in court

Balotelli earnt around £120k a week from memory, so you're suggesting that the likes of Negredo, Navas, Jovetic are only on £40k per week? I doubt it very much.

Have you seen them? They are nothing like the UEFA ones.

The PL one you can make 100mil losses compared to 40mil in UEFA.

Yeah, this is really going to help the PL isn't it.

It allows a loss of just over £30m per season over the next 3 years

But it also caps wage bill increases, anyone who has a wage bill of over £52m van only increase it by a maximum of £4m per annum.

It's not the most draconian set of rules, but it's a start on the road to forcing clubs to become self sufficient & more stable.

Balotelli was on far more than that. Those 3 mentioned will be on £80k max. Then you have Bridge, Bellamy, Adebayor and co that will now be off their wage bill.

City no longer have any need to pay over the top wages, but FFP means they cant buy as big as often.

the so called richest league in the world has 1 transfer in the top 10 in Europe this summer, and he is about 9th. That is because of FFP

Looks like we are looking at the same article but the 4m increase is open to abuse

Q: So the likes of Manchester United are limited to a £4million a year total wage increase?

A: Not quite - the restriction only applies to the income from TV money. If clubs boost their income through extra sponsorship deals or matchday income, they can spend that on wages too.

Anyway FFP isn't about trying to narrow the gap between top and bottom, it is about protecting clubs from going bust. 35mil loss a season isn't going to help this so in my opinion FFP will be a waste of time.
