Poster on Everton forum who seems respected on there seems confident that Danny Simpson will also arrive on a free, and our main money signing will be James McCarthy whose having talks when back from America. Sheedy pretty muched backed this up.

Speaking to Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet, Bendtner said: "Arsenal have agreed with five clubs so now it is up to me to make a choice.

"I will make that choice within the next 14 days. They are all good clubs. It is a hugely important choice I'm faced with. I must go where I am wanted. As a footballer, there is only one thing that can make you happy: playing time."

Bendtner has not played for Arsene Wenger's side since 2011, following two season-long loans at Sunderland and Juventus.

And, for the first time, the Dane indicates his next move may not be to one of Europe's elite.

"Will it be good for me to go to a big club where I risk the bench? No, I'd rather go somewhere where the club is located just below the top where I can play every week," he said.

"I can take a step back to take three forward."

I hope we are one of those clubs, I'd love him. Think he'd suit a Martinez system and he'd get the best out of him, he was great in the Euro's for Denmark.

We are getting relegated.

Bent is a PROVEN PL striker, who, when fit & starting regularly, has always been roughly a 1 in 2 goal scorer.

At £6m @ 29, he'd be good value imo, you disagree, but your argument has changed from resale value to ability. If it's the latter then that's merely your subjective opinion, if it's the former, I think you're just plain wrong, as the examples given prove.

I don't know where is the figure of £6m coming from? And £6m is still a lot of money for this club. If you think this club can survive without making profit on younger players then you are wrong.

And no I do not think it is a good idea to spend such money on an aging player who has not performed for the last 2/3 years.

You've got to be joking right?

He's the best player in the World in his head, shame by the time that gets to his boots he's dire!

sorry about sarcasm over Football manager but I just don't want to lose sight that the game is still about great memories on the pitch, and I do think too much financial analysis like this and you may deny yourself that. I know its been a long time but the memory of a good goal-scorer in a trophy winning team is one that is worth a 6m loss. may not result in that but that is for us all to agree and disagree about.

Danny Simpson? I remember Martinez was linked with signing him for Wigan towards the end of the season, so he obviously rates the lad, but I didn't think we would need cover at RB unless Hibbert is close to packing it in.

Simpson is bang average. Hibbo might be about shot, but we've got Coleman & Stones, signing a plodder like Simpson (who's a right Billy big bollocks btw) would be a crap piece of business imo.
