The summer 2013 Everton transfer rumourZ thread

Duffy needs to go out on loan - there's no point having him sat on the bench all season as back up to Distin and Jags. Signing Alcaraz will allow us to let him go which will aid his progress rather than hinder it

First of all, I dont think its going to be anywhere near an extra 30m a Year, you can link as many things as you like, but I cant see us getting that much, also it depends on many factors, such as final postion, amount of times on TV and so on, but lets pretend for a second, its 30m.

We will use some of it to pay down debts, some of it will be used to improve the ground, some of it will disappear into Other Operating Costs, when we sign players, other Clubs are aware of this increase, Agents are aware of this increase, so most players wages will increase.

Possibly in 3 Years or so, we might start to see some sort of debt reduction and maybe a few licks of paint around Goodison, possibly another new pitch.

But I think you seem to think we will spend the entire 100m on players?

So what you really mean is that you are going to ignore and disregard any evidence that is put in front of you, so that you can make your own conclusions based on nothing but your own opinion. You aren't alone in doing this, lots of Evertonians are ignoring the reports stating that even the club finishing bottom is going to receive an extra 14-20million pounds, and the reports aren't even taking into account all the foreign TV deals.

The USA deal alone has gone from 23million dollars to 250 million dollars. A club like Everton is on target to receive AT LEAST an extra 30 million.

Other club's revenues, whether they be through sponsorship or otherwise, are irrelevant when we are discussing how much extra money Everton are going to receive and what Everton are going to spend their extra money on.

It's like Evertonians have become conditioned to instantly create excuses as to why the money won't be spent on squad improvement. You say that the money will be used to decrease the debt, but our debt is comparably small, we will stop making losses (until we spend our extra money) and history shows that the debt is actually likely to INCREASE when are revenues have gone up.

But more importantly, it is the players on the pitch that really determine the state of the club. Paying off 10 million pound in debt is of little use if it sees you drop 5 places down the league; you end up getting less prize money and it becomes even more difficult to attract top players in the future.

All I want is for people to acknowledge that THERE HAS BEEN A CHANGE, and that our revenue is expected to increase by at least 30million pound a year, and that the extra revenue is going to have to be spent one way or another.

I'm not being moody here by the way, just putting my point across.

Said it before in this thread, but if Alcaraz signs for Everton I'm almost 100% certain he will partner Jags in defence and Distin will be the back up player. Martinez wants a defender that brings the ball out of defence. Something where Alcaraz is a lot better at as both Jags and Distin.

Before taking such a step, Martinez should consider the fact that I have just taken delivery of my replica 2012/13 home shirt with "Distin" on the back and the proper crest on the front (£19.50, Kitbag).

Goat's right mate. It doesn't matter what financial comings and goings there are, we'll still spend very conservatively in the transfer market. By the end of this window I'd be amazed (and pleasantly surprised) if we'd spent more than a couple of million on top of whatever money we get from player sales. They will ALWAYS find an explanation to account for where the money goes. They'll have auditors creating new and separate categories of expenditure (such as the infamous Other Operating Costs) to syphon cash away from the playing side. They'll find a way, a means, a mechanism, a vehicle. They always do.

Distin is actually quite adept at bringing the ball out from the back, he used to do it quite well for City. He can/could do this:
