The summer 2013 Everton transfer rumourZ thread

THT just tweeted that Kone and Alcaraz are almost done deals. Also there is legitimate interest in Mcgeady and Honda. We'll see how this goes. I have faith with Roberto and I trust him to do well in the window. This will be a HUGE summer blues, hang on...

Five million for Kone all day, 10+ goals a season as our strikers go is welcome. He stretches teams as well and has pace.

Never been impressed with Alcaraz tbh.

McGeady - no.

Honda - never saw much of him.

I actually like what Kone has to offer. He dominated stretches of the game against us last fall. The one think I dislike is that he'll be 30 in November. Wish we were going after someone younger.

If Kone comes in i can see one of Jelavic or Anichebe getting sold and with Kone being very similar to Anichebe i can see Vic getting shipped out, that then leaves a space for a first team striker, a top class striker, a young striker, someone like Aubameyang, Bony etc.

I can see this happening and the player being Bony. We need attacking options as seen last year, when Jelavic wasn't able to score and Anichibe wasn't exactly slotting for fun we struggled. Moyes seen nothing in Vellios and we relied on other such as Baines, Felliani and Mirallas to score the goals instead of our striker which shouldn't happen.

I would like to see Bony but I dont know what it is, I just can't see us spending 12-14 million on one player with our squad. I know it paid off with Felli but just don't know. Hoping I'm proved wrong. If all goes right we will have a team capable of challenging for CL again this year. If it goes wrong then were gonna struggle.

Everton FC manager Roberto Martinez unlikely to make move for Aidan McGeady

EVERTON are unlikely to pursue their interest in Republic of Ireland winger Aiden McGeady.

Roberto Martinez is chasing a number of potential transfer targets while in Brazil, where he is commentating on the Confederations Cup for ESPN.

Although the Blues are yet to move in the market, there is likely to be an increase in activity from July 1, when the club’s new-look backroom staff will also start to take shape.

While Martinez was keen on Spartak Moscow midfielder McGeady in January when he was still in charge at Wigan, he is now looking at other alternatives ahead of the £4m-rated 27-year-old.

It was revealed yesterday how the Toffees long-standing interest in Japan playmaker Keisuke Honda continues under Martinez, who hopes to rival AC Milan for the CSKA Moscow player's signature.

And next fortnight could also see the arrival of further central defensive reinforcements along with another goalkeeper to deputise for Tim Howard, after the departure of Jan Mucha last month.

Meanwhile, Martinez will go about his business in his new role with the enthusiastic backing of the club’s most successful manager.

Howard Kendall believes the 39-year-old Spaniard will flourish at Goodison after cutting his managerial teeth with Swansea City and Wigan Athletic.

“I think he will do an excellent job,” Kendall said. “The job he did at Wigan, keeping them in the league for so long, and the attractive way he plays football, I’m sure the fans will like that. He’s [also coming here] on the back of an FA Cup win.

“I’ve met him a number of times and he is a true gentleman. I’m sure he will do well.

“I have been impressed [when I’ve been in his company] and I think Bill Kenwright was impressed as well. He must have been.

“I think for Roberto, it’s the right time for him. He’s been linked with a number of clubs previously but it’s right time to come into the big time.”

Kendall said his experience of Spanish football, where he managed Athletic Bilbao for two years after ending his first stint at Goodison in 1987, has contributed to a cordial relationship with Martinez when their paths have previously crossed.

“Roberto normally comes out with a little bit of Spanish to me because he played at Real Zaragoza which is in the Basque area and very near to Bilbao,” he said.

“He introduces himself in Spanish but then we normally get talking in English again.

“I haven’t had the chance to speak him since he got the job but I have left a message wishing him well.

“I am looking forward to seeing him at the start of the season.”

A couple of signings will defo lighten the mood on here at least. I cant wait to see how they slot into people's potential formations, get in.

Or people will just complane we have blown what little budget we have on crap.

Personally I just want Honda. He would be my top signing if I could have anyone realistically it would be him with afellay second .

Gibson felliani
Mirallas Honda Afellay

Now that's a midfield to dream about eh. But in all seriousness Honda has to be top of the wanted list for me anyway.

Lads I just agreed a pre contract with Honda for Saints on FM, if he's willing to go there...

In the express too that Kone is all but a done deal.

Can't believe that with all the talk about Martinez being very pro youth, he's going to blow a big chunk of our limited budget if not all of it (fees and wages) on a couple of 30 year olds.

Our squad is already aging, what happened to lowering the average age of the squad? I'm struggling to find a positive here.

Martinez at his conference talked about it being a "world wide market" out there when quizzed about going back to Wigan for players. Can he seriously not come up with anything better than Kone and Alcaraz from his old club?

Kenwright said last night that not much was needed to do to the squad, and that 2-3 in is all that's needed. So is these two pretty much it?

Depressing.
