In the express too that Kone is all but a done deal.
Can't believe that with all the talk about Martinez being very pro youth, he's going to blow a big chunk of our limited budget if not all of it (fees and wages) on a couple of 30 year olds.
Our squad is already aging, what happened to lowering the average age of the squad? I'm struggling to find a positive here.
Martinez at his conference talked about it being a "world wide market" out there when quizzed about going back to Wigan for players. Can he seriously not come up with anything better than Kone and Alcaraz from his old club?
Kenwright said last night that not much was needed to do to the squad, and that 2-3 in is all that's needed. So is these two pretty much it?
Depressing.
It's a worry isn't it????
IF rumours are to be believed, this world wide market has gone as far as a 6M 30yr old striker from Wigan, a 30yr old freebie cb from Wigan and a 5M pacey winger with nothing else to his game from russia, who incedentaly was nearly on his way to Wigan a few months ago....
Well that's 10M there and I can't see us having much more than that available. As for the players mentioned, well alcaraz on a free I wouldn't be overly dissapointed with if it allowed Duffy to go out on loan and he became the 4th choice. McGeady I have absolutely no desire to see in a Everton shirt as he's utter garbage, if that's the best winger Martinez can find with 5M its a worry! Kone doesn't look a bad striker, but the fee is too much! We need a marque mid twenty's striker signing. Now if Martinez plan is to sell jelavic to raise funds for kone, then ok, may not agree but would see a logic, player for player, and we'v not wasted any funds
as such.
True we haven't, but you've got to admit it's looking more and more likely isn't it? These are pretty strong persistent "links" that have now moved on from vague, to pretty much done.Haha we've not signed anyone yet and people are moaning about the players we've not signed.
Just bloody wait.
Mate that is not ok for me. Kone is not a goal machine and he is going to have the mighty "2nd" second PL season handover. And If I have the choice, I won't have any Wigan players (unless one is on a free and on small wage to replace Heitinga). Why shall we go for them when there are many good players elsewhere. I am with you on this. I am worried.
I agree I can't believe some are so quick to write Jelavic off. His form last season was a concern for sure, but lets not forget the lethal goal machine we saw when he first arrived.Mate that is not ok for me. That could possibly be the case, along with a good summers rest he's had.Martinez will make Jelavic tick again.
Or even keep Jelavic and save the 5-6 wasted on Kone and buy someone better or at least with some potential. To be clear I wasn't saying kone is better than jelavic and that we should sell and buy kone, was just making the point of I wouldn't like to be wasting 6M on kone to add to jelavic and vic. However if Martinez decided to sell jelavic to find kone and then used 5/6M bringing another striker in younger with potential, I'd at least understand the thinking and logic even If I'd prefer jela to kone......
You see what I'm trying to say??
Personaly if it was me, I would sell jelavic for around 5M and use another 5/6/7M of funds on top of that to sign a bony or someone simlar and the take a loan/free in from somewhere (gudetti)

Sheedy on the other forum has also said these two are likely, as has THT.

Jelavic could possibly have been jaded, he never had a break last summer and it showed. Lets see what Jelavic turns up this coming season with a new manager and a good break behind him.
I'd most certainly be starting Jelavic ahead of Kone without question.
