The summer 2013 Everton transfer rumourZ thread

I know it's all about opinions, but proper LOL at all the experts who know these players will be terrible signings.

Some of you just never learn do you?

There's a conceit building up amongst Evertonians that's disturbing to witness. No one but some shiny new foreign manager winning a European league was good enough for us a few weeks back, and now that matter is settled no player is good enough for us unless they've got the thumbs up from Fifa Manager and costs £20M.

We've got a couple of forwards there who couldn't hit a cow on the arse with a banjo, but Kone is 'not good enough'; and we've got a useless chocolate teapot of a CB in Heitinga, but a player who just helped keep Aguero and Tevez under wraps isn't good enough to be an improvement on said chocolate teapot.

Unbelievable.

He was the 7th most creative player in the Premier league last season, and second only to Baines at Everton.
Also had his best goalscoring season.

We play the ball through the left because of Baines a lot (and because it used to be our only outlet).
Baines is the top #1 'creative' player in the league and does that with combining with Pienaar. This just means that when we attack through the left, one third of the time Pienaar instead of Baines tries to put the ball in the box. Put another player there and it'll likely be the same. He did some nice things last season but he also did an awful lot of sloppy things and at his age it just looks like he won't be getting any more energetic, was an expensive signing who took the club for ransom and is on a big money deal.

wrong sorry, im not having it

Well prove me wrong on any count? Did he look good last season? No he didn't.
Is he likely to gain a better form? Likely not.

I like him but he is aging like we all are as humans. In top sports you can fade quickly.

What's happened to Löic Remy? Has he moved yet? He wouldn't be a bad shout, used to buy him all the time on Fifa 12. Him & Llorente got 50 goals each one year. Sign them both.

Mis-passes and tumbles over. Likely Moyes fault but he also stopped our counter attacking play and let the opposition regroup.
His linkup play with Baines wasn't really that good either. A few times he made a nice little flick to Baines and it worked, a lot of times it didn't. He's a tired old man really, he retired from international football for a good reason.

There were a few misplaced passes last season, yes. I believe that had more to do with temporary form issues than age though. Disagree with the rest.

That´s outrageous really. He scored some of the most important goals of the season for us and is being critiqued based on the incredibly high standards he´s made for himself over past seasons.

Pienaar cost us £5m aged 30.

Kone is a year younger, if he costs the same and comes and scores 10 goals a season (like at Wigan) for say three seasons, you'd be unhappy with that ? Really ?

I just don't rate Kone as highly as Pienaar, nor is he that much better than what we already have for us to be spending a decent chunk of what little money we have on. Unfortunately Levy managed to fleece us on the Pienaar deal as well, would have probably cost around £3 had he not known we were desperate to sign him

Well them 3 players LCAB has tweeted about are the definition of "meh" signings to me if i'm being honest.

We'l be all bald by the seasons end if we sign Aiden McGeady.

We need to try and find our Suarez/Bale lite, Dave. That's what we need to push on. The top 4 is our next step and we probably won't get there with McGeady and Kone when our "rivals" are bringing in Higuain and similar.

Still can't believe we are looking at adding 10m worth of squad depth in Alacaraz, McGeady and Kone to replace Hitzl, Neville and Mucha or whoever. We have a bunch of U21-'kids' to replace the midfield berth, both Barkley and Lundstram should see more time, as should Junior so just adding back-up seems a bit wasteful. Kone seems on a level with Big Vic so doesn't really add much, Jela is a far better striker on his day, and we have McAleny, Vellios and Long to throw in for depth.

Duffy, Stones and maybe Browning should deputize more in defense, but if we don't lose Heitinga there's no need to replace. Alcaraz on a free seems a decent deal though.

McGeady seems wasteful in that Kennedy seems ready for a few minutes at least, and the depth with Pienaar, Mirallas, Naismith, Oviedo and at a stretch Barkley, Osman, Vic sees us relatively secure.

I'd rather we try and go for two players who would challenge for a 1st team spot than just be considered cover.

GK: Howard, Springthorpe, Taudul
D: Baines, Garbutt, Oviedo, Distin, Jagielka, Heitinga, Duffy, Hibbert, Coleman, Stones, Browning
MF: Pienaar, Mirallas, Osman, Barkley, Gibson, Fellaini, Naismith, Junior, Lundstram, Kennedy
FW: Jelavic, Anichebe, Vellios, McAleny, Long

From that, I'd say we need a back-up keeper, a starting-11 winger who can play both sides and a starting-11 striker. Could make a point that just buying a top top striker would see us in a better position as we need to strengthen our first team, not just add numbers for the sake of it.

Suarez cost 25m Paul.

And both players are still moving onto bigger and better things this summer by the look of it, before they have pushed the clubs they play for on fully into the top 4.

I don't understand how you cannot realise this?

Well I think you'll find a lot of people in here think he did look good last season and theres no reason to think he wont play as well or even better next season. His game isnt about pace so losing that doesnt make a difference to him, hes a clever player, he plays passes nobody else in our squad could see and he makes Baines double the player he is (no disrespect to Bainesy).

Just out of interest who do you consider to be our better players? Because id have pienaar up there with mirallas, felli, baines, jagielka

Can't help but feel we are being left behind. Teams in relagation battle last year are bringing in better quality than us. I can't help but feel that this is because of all this contract ending [Poor language removed] up and Martinez being away. This surely is slowing us down. If Swansea do sign Bony I will feel sick. We need to splash cash on a striker.
