The summer 2013 Everton transfer rumourZ thread

For me Moyes has shown no regards or loyalty to EFC throughout this whole process.

He has clearly ran down his contract to secure a position that makes him more employable with improved financial package as a direct result of not being under a contract. He let the contract run down and dismissed it that it would be reviewed at the end of the year. This, I blame BK as much as DM. Anyone who is naive enough to believe that the decision by Ferguson to retire at short notice is deluded, this top job in the world clubs is not recruited for in one week, also Mourinho confirmed he was aware of the retirement a long time ago.

By not getting compo, has put additional financial hardship on the club, the very thing that Moyes cited every year for the last 11 years. He could easily of signed a new contract to achieve a welcome compensation package for the club if he really was loyal and felt some sincerity towards the club.

Firstly financial compensation for managers is nothing compared to players anyway. And many managers have get out clauses for bigger clubs in their contracts.

Secondly, SAF informed his board at United in April that he was retiring, Moyes would have been approached later.

Everton knew from the start that there was a good chance he would leave. What did you expect him to do ? Sign a contract when United became interested ?

Alcaraz makes sense, Kone I can live with and McGeady will have to convince me but if he's pacy then he's halfway there and he's not expensive by todays standards. Thing is, its all very safe and sensible. I want Roberto to make at least 1 signing which costs a few quid and puts his reputation on the line a little bit. If we do sign those 3 then I'm not sure we can afford a 'marquee signing' without selling Fellaini or worse, Baines, and that would be a whole different ball game.

I honestly believe Moyes would have signed a new contract at the end of Jan had the transfer window gone well. Given that it was an unmitigated disaster then it would have been hugely hypocritical for him to then sign a bumper new contract.
And can you imagine the outcry on here had he signed up, only to walk out less than 6 months later!? Yet the same people who would have slaughtered him for that are now saying they expected him to sign a contract at Everton purely so the club would recieve a fee when he left. I'm sorry but no player or manager has done that, ever.

I dont like the fact he's (supposedly) bidding for our best player, but its hardly a shock. We can turn down any unsuitable offer regardless.

Compensation is compensation , irrespective if its 1 million or 5 million. To a business that is running at a 5 million loss , money is tight and any shortfall impacts future spending. Even if we could have covered the costs of any incoming manager it is a saving. Any compo would have not have taken money out of our spending power as we would had to pay compensation to the new manager old club unless they too were out of contract.

If you read my post, i am questioning the loyalty and integrity that supporters have claimed that Moyes had toward EFC. Moyes, IMO , if he was this loyal or dedicated as much as people think, should of signed a contract last year to enable the club to get a return, as I said, i believe he has manoevered himself into a position as to when he was approached by any potential new club that he would get the most financial package for himself in the process.

This. I am still hopeful that this is just the first wave of activity.

That's what I'm desperately hoping for. The mail reporting today that we would make McGeady our 'top summer signing' for 6 mil nearly made me throw up into my Cheerios.

My hope is that we'll bring in kone, alcaraz and possibly McGeady as squad players in the next week and then go out and spend the Fellini money on fer/Honda and a top class winger or striker

and I also believe that Moyes knew nothing of any interest that Man U may have had in him as manager, and that Fergy would have mentioned nothing to him during their many red wine tasting evenings.
