Remember Bilyaletdinov's first game against AEK Anthens? He was brilliant, then it all went down hill. Them goals against Man United and Wolves were something else though.

Tottenham vs Everton transfer battle over Barcelona forward Gerard Deulofeu looms

Teenager is keen for Spanish giants to loan him out for first-team experience after scoring 18 B-team goals last season

Barcelona rising star Gerard Deulofeu is a loan target for Tottenham and Everton.

Highly-rated 19-year-old Deulofeu, seen as one of the Spanish champions' future stars, is desperate for regular first XI action after scoring 18 times for Barcelona's B team last season.

He believes a loan move to the Premier League will enable him to return to Barca a more mature player with a better chance of breaking into their title-winning first team.

Spurs boss Villas-Boas, who is busily tweaking a squad that fell agonisingly short of Champions League qualification last season, ran the rule over the forward personally last year during scouting missions he undertook after being sacked by Chelsea.

But Deulofeu, currently on international duty at the Under-20s World Cup, is also an admirer of Everton's Spanish boss Roberto Martinez and sees the Toffees as a club where he can get significant playing time.

Liverpool had been in the hunt for the players' services in the past but, with Daniel Sturridge, Philippe Coutinho, Luis Alberto and Iago Aspas now at the club - and the possibilities that Luis Suarez may not leave and Henrikh Mkhitaryan may arrive - Deulofeu is looking at their neighbours instead.

The player's agent has been in the UK this week, sorting out the transfer of another Barcelona youngster, Spain U21 defender Marc Muniesa, to Stoke.

Meanwhile, Everton have confirmed the appointment of key members of new manager Martinez's backroom staff.

The Spaniard has been reunited with his former Wigan staff Graeme Jones (assistant manager), Kevin Reeves (chief scout), Inaki Bergara (goalkeeping coach) and Richard Evans (head of performance).

Their appointments follow the departures of Steve Round, Chris Woods and Jimmy Lumsden, who were released from their contracts on Monday to join former Toffees boss David Moyes at Manchester United.

Not sure if it's been posted elsewhere, but it looks like we have missed out on Honda.

Well yes, but not JUST yet.

Several Italian media outlets claimed on Thursday that the midfielder, 27, has agreed to leave his Russian club for San Siro this summer for £2.1 million on a four-year contract.

However, Galliani denied that the Rossoneri had secured the signing of the Japan international, who featured at the Confederations Cup, though refused to rule out the possibility that he would be brought on board at the Italian club soon.

"At the moment, [Honda] is a CSKA Moscow player," he told Sky Sports, "but who can predict what will happen in the future."

Yep, not confirmed, but if they are talking like that, then it is pretty much sorted. ESPN were saying last night that personal terms were agreed, it was just a matter of deciding whether to pay to take him now or get him in Dec for free.
If he is that close to signing for AC MIlan, I don't think we would have a chance of nipping in to steal him (Pun not intended)
