Is this Matri stuff true? And it's starting to seem like our manager is way better connected than Brenda. This is proving to be very useful in the transfer market.

Juve want £12m for him apparently.

More than they paid for Tevez.

ffs.

Everton are told their £12million bid for James McCarthy of Wigan is not enough

By ALAN NIXON (so likely untrue)

Roberto Martinez continues a raid on his old club, but Wigan insist that the Toffees' bid for McCarthy is £8million TOO LOW

Everton boss Roberto Martinez will be told his £12million bid for Wigan midfielder James McCarthy is £8m too low, writes Alan Nixon of the Sunday People .

The Goodison chief has already landed Arouna Kone and Antolin Alcaraz from his old club and also taken Joel Robles, who was on loan at Latics last season.

Now the Toffees boss is set to go back for McCarthy after missing out on Victor Wanyama, who went to Southampton from Celtic.

Martinez is baulking at the £14million price-tag Juventus have slapped on forward Alessandro Matri.

The 27-year-old Italian, who has won five caps for Italy in the past two years, still has two years remaining on his contract in Turin.

Leighton Baines will sign new Everton contract if Manchester United cannot agree a fee

David Moyes is looking to be reunited with his former player, but failure to meet the asking price will see Baines extend his Toffees stay

Leighton Baines is set to sign a new Everton deal if Manchester United do not meet the *asking price before the start of the *season, write Dave Kidd and Steve Bates of the Sunday People .

United are expected to table a second, take-it-or-leave-it bid for the England left-back this week.

David Moyes wants to be reunited with his former Everton star and United offered around £10million for the player last month.

United are unwilling to pay more than £12m for the defender who turns 29 in December and would have no great resale value.

New Toffees boss Roberto Martinez is adamant Everton do not want to sell and it is believed that Goodison chairman Bill Kenwright is only prepared to let him go for £18m.

Baines has not agitated for a move and sources close to the player say he is ready to accept a wage rise to extend a Goodison deal which has two years to run.

The player knows that a move to a Champions League club would help his efforts to become England’s first-choice left-back at the World Cup in Brazil next summer, should Roy Hodgson’s men qualify.

But Baines is not willing to demand a transfer, believing it would disrespect Everton, where he has played for six seasons.

And yet another one, also from the Sunday Everton, sorry, Sunday Mirror:

Manchester United and Arsenal running out of time to sign Marouane Fellaini from Everton
13 Jul 2013 22:30
The Belgian's £23.5million buy-out clause expires on August 14 with the Toffees set to demand more than £30million for him after

Manchester United and Arsenal have one month to sign Everton star Marouane Fellaini.

The £23.5million buy-out clause in Fellaini’s Everton *contract expires on August 14.

Fellaini still has three years remaining on his Everton deal and the Goodison Park club will demand more than £30m for the 25-year-old once his clause has expired.

It was former Everton boss David Moyes, now in charge at United, who insisted on the deadline when the buy-out clause was negotiated into *Fellaini’s 2011 contract *extension. Having lost Joleon Lescott to Manchester City at the end of the 2009 summer transfer window, Moyes wanted to make sure Everton would not be left in a similar position and would have time to replace *Fellaini.

A source close to Fellaini said: “Marouane respects the terms of the agreement he signed with Everton and has good moral standards. It is up to the club how they act.”

Knowing the *precise details of the buy-out clause and the deadline, Moyes must *decide whether to step up his interest in *Fellaini with Bayern *Munich set to beat him to the signing of Barcelona’s Thiago Alcantara.

Everton are already braced for a second bid from Moyes for another of his former players, Leighton Baines. Arsenal have made an enquiry over Fellaini, but have so far concentrated most of their efforts on trying to sign a striker after making *approaches for Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain, United’s Wayne Rooney and *Liverpool’s Luis Suarez.

The clock is now ticking for Arsenal and United over *Fellaini, particularly as both clubs are away on long-haul *pre-season tours.

Fellaini and Baines are in *Austria with Everton for the club’s training camp.

This summer’s transfer *window shuts on September 2 and Everton boss Roberto *Martinez will target Paris Saint-Germain’s Clement Chantome and Wigan’s James McCarthy if Fellaini leaves Goodison Park.
