Frasier Forster
Wanyama
John Daly - That the same lid who at 30 years old hasn't got a single cap for a gash Ireland?
Leigh Griffiths - The one who made zero appearances for Wolves so got loaned out?
Derick Templeton - Who? Do you mean David? Who at the age of 24 is yet to make an appearance for Scotland...

to name a few

Two then.

You've got to compare the standard of competition, though.

Playing for rangers in the spl isn't the same as playing for seville in la liga.

True, and I also forgot that Kone had a good season in 11/12 with Levante. So lets compare their respective EPL records:

After 38 games (his total with Wigan) Kone has 13 goals; After 38 with us, Jelavic had 18. This is the ONLY like-for-like comparison that can be made.

What's to say Kone won't suffer a loss of form this season, just like Jelavic last season? Not an optimistic view, and for that I apologise; I hope Kone does well. But selling Jelavic for £6m now only makes sense if we have another £10m to go with it so we can go striker shopping. And we don't.

Anyway Jelavic vs kone.

2012-13: Kone gets 13 in 38 and wins a trophy, Jela gets 8 in 43 and gets dropped for anichebe. Advantage Kone.
2011-12: Kone gets 17 in 39 in la liga as levante finish 7th and qualify for europe for the first time in their history, Jelavic gets 11 in 16 as everton finish 7th in the premier league. Deuce.
2010-11: Kone gets 2 in 8 in germany. Jelavic is playing in scotland. Advantage Kone.
2009-10: Kone is playing for seville, Jelavic is playing for Rapid Vienna. Game Kone.

It was David Templeton too. One of the promising Hearts players who sadly decided to jump ship and play for Rangers

Good potential but he needs to get back in the SPL

So just to check of the 5 spl players you named as proof of quality of that league only one is actually in the spl? The other 4 are either based in england (the kenyan and the shop lifter) or in the scottish lower leagues (davey and the golfer)?

You have to keep the SPL form of Jelavic as part of the argument because it was due to his excellent form there that he got the Everton gig. He did well when he first came in as well, so the fact that his form continued from SPL to EPL is significant to the discussion

Every single SPL team aside from Celtic would get relegated from the Premier League in their first season, probably with an even lower points total than Derby, and even Celtic would just scrape survival.

It's absolute gash of the highest order. League 1 standard.

Kone has showed through his previous clubs, that he shines playing for a poor club. I'm not saying he won't do a job for us, but i'd still keep Jelavic and probably start him over Kone at the beginning of this season.

I think 'the kenyan and the shop lifter' would make for an excellent tile of an odd couple crime fighting duo.

They'd be a good team if they wanted to rob something.

The shop lifter would just pass the stolen goods to the Kenyan and he'd run away with them.

Anyway Jelavic vs kone.

2007-08: Kone signs for Seville, scores twice in 24 games. Jelavic is playing in Belgium and scores 3 in 25 games: Kone edges it

2008-09: Kone plays six games and scores no goals. Jelavic transfers to Vienna and scores 8 in 39. Jelavic moves ahead

2009-10: Kone plays sixteen games and scores no goals, Jelavic plays in 48 games, scoirng 29 goals. Jelavic leaves Kone in the dust

2010-11: Kone gets 2 in 8 in germany. Jelavic starts with six goals in eight games, before transferring to Rangers and slotting 19 in 27.Jelavic still way ahead.

2011-12: Kone gets 17 in 39 in la liga as levante finish 7th and qualify for europe for the first time in their history, Jelavic scores 17 in 28 for Rangers, then transfers MID-SEASON and gets 11 in 16 as everton finish 7th in the premier league. Kone makes up some ground, Jelavic still going strong

2012-13: Kone gets 13 in 38, wins a trophy but suffers the humiliating indignity of relegation, Jela gets 8 in 43 and gets dropped for anichebe. Kone draws level LOL.

Fixed.
