Isn't Howard on big wages though? Buy a new main man and buy a young prospect keeper from somewhere snide.

£30m????????????????

how do people like this get a job, seriously now?

Tabloid bollocks. I wish people would stop taking it as verbatim and recycling it on here, it's sensationalist rubbish.

Really simple to determine that it's nonsense; Alcaraz. 30 years old, 6 months out injured this season, and out of contract in 21 days time. He's not worth a penny. Why is he even cited as part of a £30m deal?

De Bruynes off to germany by all accounts, bit of a tug of war between leverskusen and dortmund and i think one other team who are all trying to get him on load, think him being included as part of the scurrle deal is Leverkusens way of leveriging him away from dortmund who apparently had a verbal agreement in place to loan the lid, all ofc predates Mourinho's arrival back at the bridge so could all change, and a lot depends on if De Bruynes gotten over the fact his bird had her the back of ther net busted wide open by courtoise on a regular basis

mcmannaman about £3m, mccarthy apparently £7m and alcaraz free = £30m

They reckon £15m for McCarthy! I'm not sure if they're even aware that Alcaraz is out of contract because, if they are, that would value McManaman at £15m too. Whelan does push a hard bargain but even he would be exceeding himself with those prices.

McCarthy is a useful utility player but utility players tend not to go for a premium. Phil Jones is a bit of an exception but one day he'll probably make a great central defensive partner for Smalling and United had competition from clubs like Liverpool for his signature. I'd imagine that his true value is no more than about £8m. I would be very, very surprised if we matched our club record to sign him. I'm not even sure that he's worth more than about £5m to us.

McManaman has showed a lot of promise but he's only had one season in the Premier League, so I think about £5m would be the top end for him. I'd be very uncomfortable if we went over that figure.

As for Alcaraz, if he signs a new contract then that surely ends our interest and if he doesn't then he won't cost us anything. So, I make that closer to £10m for the three of them rather than £30m.

if you asked me right now though include a permanent deal for De Bruyne as part of the deal to chelsea for fellaini if they are still after him, would save any pay on to liege as well as would prob reduce the payment to about 15million and thats valuing de bruyne at about 10 or so about 3 more than what chelsea payed for hm in the first place (slap a 20% sell on to chelsea as part of the deal for him as a sweetener), the lid from benfica would prob cost around 14 million giving benfica a profit of like 5 milliomn. assuming we have in the ball park of 7-8 million and net say another 5-6 from sales of heitanga, naismith and anichebe would give us around 13 million to go get defour from porto whod cost about 8-10 maybe

so defour (8-10m)
debruyne (part ex valued at 10-12m)
Salvio (14-16m)

would cost 22-26m
Outs
heitanga (1-2m)
Naismth (1m)
Anichebe (4-5m)
Felli (12-15 m and the rest of that being the cost of De Bruyne in part ex)

so 18-23 incoming

so say we have like 8-10 in addition to sales its all deffo doable and would leave us with 4-5 million to get cover for some spots..

Howard
Coleman - Jags - Distan - Baines
Gibson
Salvio - Defour - Barkley - De Bruyne
Miralles
Jagleika

Just like to add that this is pure footy manager stuff like, doubt any of those three is even a semi realistic target with maybe the exception of Defour who'd id love to see here tbh

I had a dream that McCarthy signed for Manchester City and then we were playing Watford at Goodison and they were winning 5-1 and somehow McCarthy scored for Watford (even though he was at Man City) so then we marched on the pitch but I lost my seat and couldn't find my wallet:(
We must sign McCarthy!
