The summer 2013 Everton transfer rumourZ thread

A Chelsea fansite reckons we're in for Victor Moses for £10m. It could make sense.

And the Mirror says that Demba Ba is surplus to requirements at the Bridge because they want to sign Cavani and Hulk. They'll reportedly be happy to get their money back on him. He's not 29 until the end of the season. I think I'd rather pay £7m for him than £6.5m for Kone.

The Mirror also thinks that we'll pay £30m for McManaman, McCarthy and Alcaraz. According to the FA the defender has been offered a contract by Wigan. I think £20m for the trio is asking a bit much personally.

Since Alacaraz is on a free that would mean 10 mill each for the other two. Not good value IMO.

If I was in charge (Lucky for everyone I´m not), I´d reason a bit like this:

1. Say the net budget is about 10 mil and Fellaini stays; I´d:

- Try to buy a younger striker for around 5 mil who could hopefully grab 10 plus goals over the next season.

- Use the other 5 mil for a ball playing midfielder who ultimately would be versatile enough to play more centrally and on the wing if need be.

- Sign Alcaraz on a free.

- Go bargain hunting in Spain for loans or Bosnans (easy to say, harder to do, I know).

If Fellaini does go for 25 mil and Martinez get´s 20 mil from that.

- Buy Fer or someone similar for 10 mil.

- Sing a striker capable of scoring 15 plus goals for say 10 mil (Negredo comes to mind).

- Sign Alcaraz and another midfielder for 5 as stated above.

Just remembered we need a reserve GK as well.

You would have to pay more than 10 for Negredo I reckon. Close to double that.

If Fellaini was to stay I think we'd be better off spending everything on a top winger, rather than an ok striker. If we played mirallas up front I'm convinced he'd get 10-15 goals given decent service.

If we were to sign Moses, I could see Martinez playing 4-3-3.

Jelavic as the out and out striker, with Moses and Mirallas either side of him as attacking wingers pushing up when we have the ball.

With a midfield three of Felli, Gibson & Barkley. Would be an exciting team to watch.

Cant understand how very few rate McCarthy, he may end up being overpriced which will probably rule him out for us but he's a very good player who has been improving every season, similar to Gibson but I think in time will prove to be a far better player than Gibson

Yeah James is younger and more fitter, Gibson made 23 starts last season, this needs to improve next season but his injuries are a concern. James played the same amount of games as baines last season. But the price would be way to much for us. Martinez might be able to solve Gibson injuries.

This would be very exciting to watch! Mirallas and Moses either side of an on form Jelavic would be deadly.

I also think that with Mirallas and Moses either side, Jelavic would find his form again as he would be more likely to get direct, drilled balls across the box as apposed to the service he got last year and he wouldn't have to go out wide with a player either side of him.

I'm McCarthy's biggest fan - would gladly sell Felli to get him and some extra punds in. IMO he will become the next Roy Keane - powerful, good passing and able to play equally well as a DM or a box-to-box midfielder.

agree

What we allow for wages won't have changed that much. So far, Neville, Hitzlesperger and Mucha have left. Given that we appeared to be trying to bring someone in last window, maybe there is room for one more, maybe not. It is imperative that we move Heitinga on.

Ban Jelavic from working the channels, make sure all his work is within the penalty area. Let Moses and Mirallas swap sides, to cause confusion. I reckon it could work for us.

We can dream, but Jelavic would get goals for us in this formation as you say, the service would be different for him.

Just what I had in mind. Only problem is we wouldn't really have much quality cover for any of them if they were to get injured, unless mcaleny/ Kennedy/long were ready to step up.

Not imperative but I don't think we should have players with those kind of wages on the bench. I would be happier to have Duffy on the pitch anyway.
