Against Blackburn...but against better teams with creative midfielders in a more competetive match....I would rather have Felli than most midfielders in the prem.

Last season Felli was moved around too much...couple of seasons ago in DM he was controlling games. Bobby M wont be sticking him up front for Jags and Distin to launch Scuds at...not his style...so as a phsysical presence deeper on the pitch....hard to replace in my eyes.

You dont need a Destroyer in that system.

I dont care who we played, the point of the system still remains the same. Yo have the extra Centre back to, and the 1 or 2 CM's to cover. Look at Juventus, they dont have a classic DMC destroyer.

When people do try and list McCarthy's attributes they always seem to start with "he's fit, gets around the pitch..etc" .... So f'ing what! That should be the bare minimum for a Premier League midfielder.

Fellaini is good at what he does but maybe what he does is not really what the new attacking minded Everton needs most -
he is better suited to the previous managers hoofball style of play -
personally I would not go for McCarthy - although he might fit in better than Fellaini -
I would rather lose Fellaini before I lose Baines -
nobody is irreplaceable - he will just be a loss - great player
we need a quick CM to act as dynamo and ball distributer to activate our strikeforce - not Fellaini's forte
I am more disappointed in our previous manager raiding Everton as a last resort

James is a better passer then Fellaini, James best features is he Fit, mobile, full of energy and is a passer. Fellaini is more skilful, better attacker, is calm and can be unplayable on his day which is getting less for us. If Gibson was more mobile and more fitter, then we wouldn't need McCarthy. But in my eyes I recken Martinez needs to find a cheaper version because James is overpriced if the value is over 12 million.

Prove it, I reckon he had his best season for us last year.

Look we all want Felli to stay - if he wants to then that is it the matter closed -Its the deadline of this contract clause needs to be cleared up as if it is on the 1st of August - then I think he has decided to stay if its mid August then who at the club drew that clause up as it gives us two weeks for a replacement! - only the EFC way!!!!

But is Fellani your "classic destroyer"...i think he has more to his game. Yes he is strong and can break up play but he also has no shortage of skill, can pass the ball well and also helps at set pieces. Why should Fellaini not be one of those 2 central mf's.

He reads the game well imo...which he would need too in that system to help plug gaps..

Also the Juve comparison...serie a plays a completely different way to the premier league

Just for the record mate, I love Fellaini.

My comparison with Juve, was they play 3 centre backs, so dont need a DMC. They have a deep lying playmaker (Pirlo) infornt of them. I just think IF were to play this way, Fellaini does not suit that system AS MUCH AS A McCarthy type player. He would not be ****e in it though.
