There is a video on youtube which many of you will have seen in which Leighton Baines gives a lift in his car to some Everton lads who were on their way to watch the Blackburn friendly at the weekend. One of the lads comes out and asks him, quite cheekily if he is going to Manchester United. Baines reply said it all when he uttered "I cannot say" which I understood to mean that it is being discussed as we speak by all three parties (Leighton, Everton & United).

I prefer what GoodWool76 said

Are you for f***ing real lad ?

What do you expect Elstone to say ?

'Yes while we'd like to keep Baines, we'll sell him if the right offer comes in. The ball is in United's court'

No, didn't think so.

Fairly sure the Chairman of our club said he wouldn't sell Rooney for less than £50m. Better find out where that extra £25m disappeared to eh ?

Sorry, do you always have conversations with yourself, do you find yourself talking to your shadow.

The CEO speaks " The matter is closed" ..time to press on with the wage increase.

We all look forward to seeing Baines this season.

To think all these clubs have been chasing the wrong left back when Ovideo was under all there noses all this time.

This scouting system is a lark eh.

So you don't rate him? He's a quality player and very versatile, might not be of the same standard as Baines but he's one of the most exciting prospects I've seen for a while and would certainly do a decent job of filling any void left by Baines.

You said "World Class option" thus my response.

Not for the Drama Queens out there:

Kenwright doesn't want to sell any of Baines or Fellaini, he gave Martinez some money who went and signed 4 players, now Martinez might have more money to spend, or maybe he spent them all, worst case scenario he spent them all, so he has no money to spend, if he wants to sign more players, he has to sell first.

Listening to the interviews by Martinez and some of the players, seeing how he made Fellaini captain the other day, it's clear that Martinez doesn't want any of the pair to leave, in the same time he looks happy with the squad as it is (again he might have some money we don't know about) but in general it looks like Martinez is happy with what he brought in and not looking to sell anyone to raise money for further transfers.

As I said, Kenwright isn't looking to cash in on any of the players, with the extra money we got, we are fine (regarding paying to the banks) as for the extra money for Martinez to buy players, it's completely up to him, he can sell and use the money to buy or he can keep the squad as it is and wont have any money to buy more players (worst case scenario)

As for both Baines and Fellaini:

Baines: He is happy here, but if we accepted an offer from United, he will go there, he himself won't ask for a move, the club (Martinez and the board) value him around 20M, something United are not wiling to pay, so unless someone out there decided to spend what we are asking for, Baines is staying, if he will be sold, it will be for around 20M, a very good price for a 29 years old Left Back specially that Oviedo is capable of replacing him. I doubt Moyes or anyone will meet the valuation and Baines is 95% staying here, his price will drop starting next window due to his age, so if he wasn't sold this window, he will be here for years to come

Fellaini: He has a clause in his contract, diffrent reports but most say its between 23to25M, a figure he wanted or accepted when he signed the contract and a very reasonable figure in today's market, if no one activates the clause, Fellaini will not blame the manager or the board, he will realize that no one out there thinks he is worth 23-25M, he can't ask the club to sell him for 15M, he already accepted his price (23-25M), if no one activated his release clause, he will be angry, angry toward himself and he will want to show next season he is worth that price, a win-win situation for us, as for if anyone activated the clause and he went, after paying Standard what we owe them, we will have around 20M to spend, the board will give it all to Martinez who might spend it all on one player or 5 players, it will be completely up to him what to do with the money, as long as the transfer fees + agent fees + signing on fees + wages are all covered by what he got from Fellaini's sale. Will he be here next season? it's 50-50 for now, if no one wants him, he will be here, and so far no one wants him (or want to pay the quoted 23-25M), and by each passing day it is looking he will be here more than being sold. As for him and what he wants, he does want to play in the Champion's league, but he loves Everton and is happy here, he won't leave us to go for Spurs for example, he will only go to where he can play CL and gets a good pay rise, if it didn't happen, he will give 100% next season for us

disagree also .. most don't rate Baines as he's 29 and Evra had a decent season last time out, Felliani is admired and needed.

look on Redcafe... you'll change your opinion.

£25m been quoted seems very high for a solid squad player? if he was available on the cheap I would probably agree.
Fellaini is the DM version of Adam, won't cut it at the top level.
Gives the ball away, foul. Repeat and rinse. Wins a few headers though fair play to him.
I think he's not good enough, £22m for him would be a joke.
Not good enough for where we want to be. There is no hope we would compete with midfields like Bayern, Barca, Real or Dortmund. For £22m or whatever, it seems overpriced for a player who might do a job in the league but would put us no closer to closing a pretty big gap between us and the best teams in Europe
It's not just pace it's mobility - the **** can't run. He's the same level as N'Zonzi as a CM if you want a big bloke who can't pass.

Fellaini will go where the money is simple as that. I see your point with Baines, but I can still see someone convincing him to move.
not convinced it would be united though for Fellaini, other clubs from UK or abroad, yes probably.the fella clearly isn't Moyes first option, and wouldn't that rile him a bit ???.now if Chelsea,Arsenal,City come knocking or one of the Itallian Giants come in,he'd be leaking stories to the press, and we wouldn't see his arse for dust imo

I stand corrected.

There have been other such extracts posted on this site that would provide otherwise but a) I can't be arsed / don't have the time to search, copy and post and b) regardless I hope he stays for at least one more season.

Maybe RM's more personable, less confrontational approach may be exactly what the big fella needs to push on and realize his full potential. I'd like to think so.

Mate, I just want him to do well for Everton.

No transfer rumourz then ?

Do some of you actually doubt for a second that Fellani would jump at the chance of joining utd? Him and his dad have been angling for his big money move for years.

That's exactly what will happen.

****ing Groundhog Day at this club since the gangsters took control.

Modern day Dirk Turpins, lad. Except they don't even have the audacity to wear a mask.

Disgraceful.

Sorry badwool76 but I beg to differ, listen to the recording again and you will actually find that leighton said.." I dunno" when he was asked that question, I dont for one minute expect that to mean he is staying but I also think its right to get the facts right before we speak about it.
