THE SUMMER OF 12: EVERTON PLAYER TRANSFER RUMOUR THREAD. IN AND OUT.

Baines is better than Evra. Even in Evra's best form. To say otherwise is a joke. One is steadily declining and the other keeps improving. If Evra was on a par or better than Baines then there wouldnt be a transfer rumour of him going to Utd. The only left back in the prem that is arguably better than Baines (not for me though :))is Cole.
I'd bet if you look at Evra's assists and goals in his utd career they wouldn't come close to Baines in this season or last.

Some ridiculously biased comments there.

Baines is a great attacking full back. Evra is no chump though but yes his career will be on the downturn now.

Baines is definitely better at attacking, and here's some defensive stats for you:

Baines was only dribbled past 10 times this season, whereas Patrice Evra and Ashley Cole were both beaten 29 times.

A totally nothing stat that last one. Baines attacks so much that hes not there half the time and people tend to attack us down the right for obvious reasons.

Baines probably is better than Evra but for people to say that he isnt even close to him is laughable.

Evra also gets forward loads, Man U are a team that normally play with very attacking full backs. It's definitely not a nothing stat you Manc.

Baines' delivery, passing, set piece taking and goal records make Evra's look badly Henderson though.

Of course its a nothing stat! Since when does people getting dribbled past represent anything other than an interesting diversion? Earl Barrett rarely got beaten but couldnt be classed as great. (I liked him though)

As I said Baines is great but Evra is too. There isnt a big drop off between the two if any.

Because it represents how often they get beaten by an attacker? Therefore giving a rough idea of how good they are defensively, and because the difference is so drastic I thought it was worth mentioning.

Baines is the best left back in the league other than Cole, however in the past 3 seasons he has been far more effective than Cole, and a better team he would probably be classed as better than Cole.

Looking at other similar transfers, Baines is worth atleast £25 million onwards

Oh dont get me wrong it was worth mentioning and all that but there are more things to take into consideration really like positional play, recovery skills etc as well. A player can get beat by an attacker 50 times in a season but if he recovers 49 of those times then that isnt represented in a stat like that. I think football is hard to quantify in statistical terms really as there are so many little nuances.
