I read that the bid is 12 million, this is way short of the mark obviously. I have this nagging worry though that something may have been mentioned during the Gibson deal, maybe a Gentlemens agreement on Baines?? Also people will tell I'm stupid for thinking this but what if Moyes is keen not to upset Fergie, in light of the fact that Moyes will want the Utd job one day and Ferguson will probably be allowed to choose his succesor.

Just my opinion anyway.

Baines is the best left back in the league other than Cole, however in the past 3 seasons he has been far more effective than Cole, and a better team he would probably be classed as better than Cole.

Looking at other similar transfers, Baines is worth atleast £25 million onwards

Watching Cole against Barca twice and in the final against Munich I would say Cole is still the best in the country and one of the best in Europe

- Many mentions about our move for Richardson, suggesting Sunderland will accept a minimal bid
- Manchester United are offering £12 million for Baines according to 6 newspaper websites
- Also we are being linked with Aly Cissokho (see below)

Everton are lining up Aly Cissokho as Leighton Baines' replacement - but will face competition from Newcastle to land the Lyon full-back.

Goodison Park boss David Moyes has resigned himself to losing Baines to Manchester United this summer.

United chief executive David Gill has opened discussions with Everton chairman Bill Kenwright over signing the England defender and is expected to wrap up a £12million deal within the next few weeks.

Moyes will move quickly to replace Baines by tabling an offer for France international Cissokho, who is available for around £6m and wants a move to the Premier League.

Newcastle, however, are also keen, with Alan Pardew planning to shuffle his defensive pack by ditching contract rebel Danny Simpson, moving Davide Santon to right-back and slotting Cissokho in at left-back.

Cissokho is quite decent. In fact i can't see him joining us at all.

Also if we sold Baines for £12m and bought Cissokho for £6m, the other £6m would go the bank, no point at all.

Can't see this happening yet, under priced for his ability and time left on his contract

BUT if it does happen at first id be depressed just like when we sold Arteta. IF we do sell baines, big IF at this stage just rumours, hopefully we can invest it correctly again and a lot of good things can come from it and we can move forward. Bringing in another Gibson and Jelavic and most importantly peanuts!!

id hate to see him go, rodwell should go first but we need to start looking at this situation as the glass half full not empty, after all we did score 4 goals in our first 2 games with out baines remember.

I honestly reckon you can get Al Nasr to pay 10-15 for Cahill, they're cashed up Arabs with more money than they know what to do, it would be pocket change to them.
