Christ - there's loads mate

Pier39/Fisherman's wharf
Chinatown
Alcatraz
AT&T Park - SF Giants
The Zoo
Sausalito
Napa Valley wine tour
Monterey and the sea otters

Have fun - it's ace
This and a bag of chips.

San Fran is an amazing city, way, way better than I expected it to be.

Monterey bay and the drive down the coastal route is utterly amazing.

Just back from three days in Warsaw in Poland and it was brilliant. Couldn't believe how metropolitan and advanced the city was, at times I felt like I was in London/New York. A brilliant City with lots to do and the people are really really friendly. The place is steeped in history and has some great museums. Don't have a bad word to say about it, was relatively cheap also. But it was bloody freezing.

Off to thailand in jan for 3 weeks no real plan of what to do any reccomendations?

Train up to Chiang Mai, do an elephant jungle trek. From there take a trip to the border of Laos, and take the 2 day boat trip to Luang Prabang (taking in the Kuang Xi waterfalls). Bus from there to Vientiane (capital of Laos), then train back to Bangkok. You won't regret it.

Warsaw is cool. Totally rebuilt after the war as the Germans burnt down 90% of hadn't already been destroyed when the retreated from the city at end of the war.

Going to Paris this weekend. Got the deftones gig Sunday night but bigger all else planned. Arrive Saturday morning and go Tuesday evening. Any recommendations apart from the obvious stuff?

What are you interested in mate? Culture, art, music, food, drinking?

Got the week off so going to go and see San Francisco, any recommendations for things to do or see?
What a place to visit, so much to see and do
We were lucky on our visit we watched one of the America Cup races from Alcatraz

Also China Town of a night is a must

Art I think we'll do the usuals, she's into it but I only really know Caravaggio (though I believe one of his paintings is on display in the louvre)
Music and food for defo, any decent live music in a pub or bar will do, like I say we're already going to deftones on Sunday.
Drinking is one for me, some boss pubs and bars that aren't stuck up with dress codes etc.

I didn't enjoy the Louvre. There is not just one Caravaggio, there's like 100. All exactly the same. Same with Rubens. Same with tons of Artists. There are corridors 50 yards long lined on both sides with work all by the same artist. Becomes incredibly tedious and just makes you want to whizz past it all.

I hear the Musee d'Orsay is much better. Massive queues though.

Paris is great for just wandering around. Lovely city.

Good luck with finding non pretentious bars in Paris!

Just got back from Iceland... pointers for anyone visiting.

  • Blue Lagoon is a must, really sound place, cracking scenary, and if you're taking your missus (romantic).
  • Reykjavik is extremely expensive (talking £8 a pint minimum), but if you stick to happy hour, you pay half that
  • Downtown Reykjavik is where it's going on, so if you can stay on Laugavegur, do it, we loved it.
  • If you're doing any excursions, use Gateway to Iceland (little bit more expensive than the others, but way more personal) as opposed to Gray Line, who just try and fob you off to cafés every 5 minutes for 30 minutes, which gets tedious.
  • South of the Island Tour is a must for me, Golden Circle is also great fun.
  • Whale is extremely overrated
  • If they ask you if you have 'any more money', when paying in coins, swerve it... or you end up with shed loads of pennies, which you can get rid of.
  • Northern Lights trip... waste of £45, you can see them above Reykjavik most nights.
Overall, boss trip. Beautiful City.

The University/Latin Quarter has some non Parisian-esque style bars, all pretty laid back. We were wondering around for a while wondering what all the fuss was about but suddenly everything just came together.
