That's exactly where it was I went too. Split is a really lovely place. Much quieter than Dubrovnik but lots to do. Ferry is cheap as chips to, getting over to the small islands off the coast. Great place for swimming and exploring, not so much for sunbathing as it only has one sandy beach the rest are stones! Can't recommend the place enough though.
 
Cool. I'm going up in a couple of days but not there next week.

Fullerton Bay Hotel is excellent for after parties etc....but theres a multitude of things going on that week.

What the weather like in the summer?

I'd stay away from interrailing if I was you mate. I tried it for myself a couple of summers ago and there's lots of cheaper ways to do it, unless you want to take slow national rail-esque trains then interrailings brilliant, but if you want to do it on your own terms I'd recommend trying to do it in a car if you have one/are going with someone who has one.

Munich's a brilliant city though, Bavaria in general is a gorgeous part of Germany.

Planning on the trains cos I'd prefer it to driving in a different country.

Bavaria is silly good though. Explored what we could while we were there, definitely going back.
 
Spent the two best months of my life travelling from Tanzania down to Cape Town beards ago. Absolutely amazing. Everyone should do something like it. Heard from others that SA was awesome too. Hopefully one day I'll get my act together and go back to Africa tho, do some more of that (or more of the same!), and then maybe try across the ocean.

Heard the Croatian coast is really nice. Dalmations isn't it? Been sailing a few times in the Ionian islands, would like to head a bit further north one year.

Fair enough mate, ended up costing me about 5 times what I planned on it costing though.

Bosnia was brilliant too, only spent a few days there but the Bosniaks love their beer and speak surprisingly good English. Both spots were really cheap too, Bosnia more so. Chatting max £1.20 for a pint and as low as 70p in a few spots about Sarajevo.

Is right mate. Was in Croatia , Serbia and Montenegro myself this summer. Loved it.

My big trip was backpacking round South America a few years back. Amazing experience. South America is boss. A mad and beautiful place. Hope to do a similar trip again before I get old and add Central America.
 
South Africa, Chile, Brazil and Croatia are top, top places. Honourable mentions for Scandinavia, Turkey (Istanbul blew me away) and anywhere in the States.

I've done about 80 countries through work or football, but my bucket list keeps growing. Argentina is my number 1 to do, but I'm saving that for a 6-month trip as a treat when I retire. Central Asia, Japan and NZ/Oz also make me want to retire now and just travel! I'm going to spend almost 3 weeks in Morocco over Xmas/NY so that'll be another one ticked off the list.

I'm currently stationed in Beirut: you don't want to come here!
