Heading home tomorrow after being in Sweden, Norway, Estonia, Latvia, Russia, Armenia, Georgia and Turkey for the past month. Always gut wrenching to come back. Really need to take the plunge and do the full year away sooner rather than later.

Red Square at night was everything I thought it would be, Yerevan was a little gem, Bergen was full of kopites and Georgian drivers are the worst in the world. Hot air balloon ride at sunrise stole the show.

go to south America. I've spent two of the last 5 years there. I'm broke and have no career at all but it was worth it.

South America is great. never been to Peru or Bolivia yet, but want to.

Paraguay (good place to live, not a tourist destination unless a stopover in between other countries) and Argentina are really affordable. Brazil, Chile and Uruguay were a bit more epensive - t coming from Ingerland even Brazil might be comparatively inexpensive.

Last month split a week, half in Curitiba and half in Florianopolis, Brazil.

Curitiba would be a good city live in, Floripa was a really great vacation destination.

Good shout. Spent a while in both in 2008. Loved Bolivia in particular. Colombia my favourite so far.

Took your advice and started reading up on Colombia. It looks incredible on the pictures. Only issue is the weather. We were in Central America last summer and at times the heat was stifling.

I don't mind the sun in Spain etc, it's the humidity at night which did for me. Should I be expecting similar things on that Caribbean Coast of Colombia in July and August?

yup. we stayted in a hut on a beach - not wise. Hammock on the beach was ace though air con isn't too hard to find. And there is always a breeze on the coast. Also there are plenty of mountainous regions

Coming to the UK, never.

SNCF President Guillaume Pepy unveiled the ‘haute couture’ interiors of the TGV Océane (Photo: Jean-Claude Thuillier).
FRANCE: On September 14 SNCF President Guillaume Pepy unveiled the ‘haute couture’ interiors of the TGV Océane, a build of 40 double-deck high speed trainsets ordered from Alstom at a cost of €1∙2bn to operate between Paris and southwestern France. From December 11 the first trainsets are due to be deployed on services to Bordeaux and Toulouse, with a total of 17 available for the opening of high speed infrastructure between Tours and Bordeaux on July 2 2017.

With a maximum speed of 320 km/h, each TGV Océane will have a total of 556 seats, 22% more than the current TGV Atlantique fleet, with 158 seats in first class and 398 in second. There are four wheelchair spaces, each equipped with a call button for summoning assistance.

New seat designs form a key part of interiors which aim to create a warm and relaxing travelling environment through the use of materials such as wood and leather. According to SNCF, interior lighting has been entirely rethought.

For the first time in France, first class passengers will be able to turn their seats to face the direction of travel. The new seat design is also intended to provide a ‘pleasant and practical’ working environment, featuring individual charging points as well as USB ports.

Second class passengers should also be able to make use of a ‘complete office’ on the move, thanks to larger seat-back tables, individual USB ports and one charging point per pair of seats. Free wi-fi will be available from July 2017, thanks to an onboard optic fibre backbone and lineside 4G coverage to be provided by Orange.

An onboard passenger information system will enable real-time journey information to be displayed, with a dedicated space for the train manager enabling passengers to obtain further information. Other onboard amenities include a ‘convivial and functional’ bar car, space to store luggage beneath seats, and improved facilities for passengers travelling with bicycles and small children.

Got three mini breaks lined up ahead of the family holiday next year.

Got a day in Amsterdam going on the coach/ferry next Friday, returning Sunday.
Got a few days in Riga next month.
A weekend in Dublin in January.
And then two weeks in Skiathos next year.

Looking to go away around christmas (prob for 4/5 days around the 17th). Went to Paris a couple Decembers ago which was lovely, but freezing! Any good tips on somewhere warmer, but not too expensive and still culturally of interest?

Cheers :)

Nowhere else to post this so I suppose this may be the best place.

Does anyone know any way to look into how many flights have been delayed/cancelled by one airline in a day?

My Mar and Dar were meant to fly home from Spain this morning and got hit with a 12 hour delay. The company, Condor - Operated by Thomas Cook, have cancelled at least 8 flights today. Just looking for a way to prove it.
