A different part of Eastern Europe though, Slovakia has the reputation of being the poor relation to the Czech Republic when the old Czechoslovakia split in c.1989. Could you combine it with Vienna, not far as the crow flies?

Yeah thats my worry. But apparently its very cheap and safer than I had thought. Considering Prague along with it.

Anyone ever been to Bratislava in Slovakia? Thinking about booking a long weekend there in November for my girlfriends birthday but have literally no idea about the City. If it's anything like Bosnia or Croatia i'm sure it'll be brilliant.
Been there twice its good .lovely big castle and old town is good.november will be cold easy to get to from Vienna using train you have to change once . Very cheap place but everybody looks depressed and its a cold gray looking city

It's alright for weekend if you find it boring stay at Bratislava then train in to Vienna for the day more to do and see in Vienna but Bratislava is so cheap

Cape Town was fantastic as is Cologne, visited both for work but New York is still top for me just a great tourist experience.
Strangely watched the Irish U-17 play Lichtenstein U-17's in a stadium in Almaty, Kazakhstan which is one of the weirdest things I've ever done. Not many spectators and lots of well armed men with large hats guarding empty stands!

Loved visiting Turkey especially Ephesus. Would love to go back
Haven't been to Turkey for a long time but it was a great place to visit. There are so many different things to see from beaches, islands, Gallipoli, Istambul, Pammukalle and huge amounts of Roman ruins. As you mentioned Ephesus is amazing but there ruins all over the place. Food and people are great too. However not recommended for women on their own unfortunately.

Yes, fantastic city. Beautiful city centre, cheap quality beer, cheap wholesome food, lovely castle, UFO Bridge, Slavin war memorial and small enough to wander round in a few days.
Easy access to Vienna or Budapest by train (50mins/75mins) or along the Danube (75mins/90mins)
Train to Prague is approx. 5-51/2 hours, but Plzen and Brno are closer if you fancied going to the Czech Republic.
Was gonnae head back there in 3 weeks time, but decided to go to Gdansk instead, will try to get back next year sometime.

Reckon there would be plenty to see and do if spending 3 days there? Would seriously consider that Vienna trip too, apparently just 13Euro return on train!
