Reckon there would be plenty to see and do if spending 3 days there? Would seriously consider that Vienna trip too, apparently just 13Euro return on train!
Stayed in Bratislava and Vienna for Martinez first game. Both great cities, I enjoyed the night life more in Bratislava, and the women, wow! Vienna has more touristy things to do with the wife etc, but Bratislava would be the better stag do. I'd visit both.

My folks went maybe 10 years a go, said it was quite grubby, bad smog too.. I always wanted to see the Parthenon...

Thought this was better in here ...

At the risk of sounding like a jarg Chico ...

Avoid it in July and August, it's too hot. Like most cities it has it's good parts and bad parts and yea, parts of it are a bit scruffy, but there's literally ancient history round every corner which you fall over at random. The people are ace. We're staying with some mates just out of town who we met on one of the islands nigh on twenty years ago, but hotels aren't expensive. I've got a couple of meetings on Monday and then we'll wander down to Piraeus and jump on a ferry to catch a bit of sun for a few days.

Best time to go for sightseeing is mid to late May. The weather's pleasant for wandering about, it's relatively green and, if you fancy some rest on a beach later, get a ferry to Mykonos, and, depending on how busy you like it, wander round one or two of the main Cyclades or, our plan is to move onto the little Cyclades and find a room somewhere with a beach, a bakers and a few tavernas. Job done.

We worried about there being enough to do in 4 days and considered both Vienna and Budapest, however, we managed to find enough to keep us going. When we go back it'll probably be for 5 days and we'll defo spend a day in both Vienna and Budapest.
We stayed in the Park Inn Danube and it was perfect, 5min walk to the city centre, Danube across the road, great breakfast, gym, pool and a view of the Castle.

ETA, avoid the Slovan Bratislava shop on Michelska, it had mannequins outside with Skrtel tops on, took all my willpower not to gob on them. ;)

In terms of big cities, Paris would definitely be my favourite.
It's just the little things. Everyone is so well dressed (although living in Australia, even wools and plazzys would be considered well dressed compared to us), the women all have an air of elegance, the food is obviously fantastic and sitting outdoor at a cafe on the banks of the Seine overlooking the eiffel tower with freshly baked pastries and espresso watching the world go by is just such a pleasant way to pass your time.

for me Sydney is one of the best places in the world mate, early morning as the city awakes having a coffee & a scran on the way to work through to late night bevvies and all in between. Hectic by most Aussie standards but not in comparison to here, for me it had it all, city life with everything that a city has to offer with top notch beaches in its suburbs and national parks all around it.
I loved Christchurch but we still hankered after Sydney whilst there tbh, and at times it had less to do (for a city) than towns here in the North West that surround us.
Amsterdam was great but it was just a full on session really for 18 months that probably reduced my life expectancy, how we managed to work I dont know tbh.

Yep, Sydney is a great city. Love walking around at midnight and it is just as busy as Perth during the day. I used to live in Wollongong, so went to Sydney quite often, and used to go back with work every so often.

Darling harbour is a fantastic spot to spend an evening

I'm heading to Paris in November, I've never been. Any tips.
Make sure you do all the usual stuff - eiffel tower, louvre, arc d'triomphe etc. None of them disappoint. Eurodisney was surprisingly good too if that's your thing.

We did a bike tour which was great, goes for about 4 hours and takes you to all the usual spots with a guide who has all the local knowledge and points of interest. You don't cycle for more than 3 or 4 minutes at a time, so still really good for those who are not quite so fit, and the drivers all give way to the cycle groups, so really safe too. I think this is the one we did http://www.bluebiketours.com/paris/

We stayed in an apartment rather than a hotel, was right above chatelet metro station on the Rue Rivoli so very central to everything. Location is everything.

Met the Mrs in the James Craig on Thursday Dollar Schooner night.

So hard to say if I agree with what you said or not tbh.
