I'm in Bethnal Green Travelodge watching some cooking show while missus gets ready. She's not too impressed with this place, no hairdryer and one towel to share.

Italy fully booked now. Florence, Rome and then Sorrento. If anyone has any tips of good places to eat/drink or whatever?

Did Rome, Florence and Venice last summer. Will try and think about restaurants, but mainly we just went to whatever pizza place looked nice. How many days are you in each place? If you're planning on going to the Uffizi book tickets online/the day before. Had to queue for about 2 hours just to get tickets when we went.

Here is one massive tip for Rome... don't eat at ANY restaurant where someone on the sidewalk tries to usher you in. Swerve like you've never swerved before. We got suckered in to one on a cold, damp day near the Vatican. Meal was mediocre, somehow got suckered into getting two appetizers when we thought we were ordering one... ended up spending over 50E on a mediocre lunch. If someone approaches you and gestures you towards their outdoor cafe, imagine they're wearing an rs kit, like that weird purple abomination from a few seasons ago.

Did eat at and rather like Ristorante del Giglio in Rome. Link is to Trip Advisor page - it has their seal of excellence, so seems my opinion isn't an outlier.

And while in Florence, get a Tuscan T-Bone. Forget the restaurant I ate at, small quaint place with a table outside as the weather was great... demolished that thing. Top 10 steak ... which says a lot after living in South America for three years.
