Sorrento/Naples/Amalfi Coast for five nights.
Naples was great atmosphere, although as scuzzy as you might expect (we were there during one of their regular litter strikes). Sorrento was a bit like Bournemouth with crinkly British tourists wandering around on Thomson packages but a decent base for exploring. Capri is touristy but well worth the trip.

I go on a lot of city breaks and do as you say, used airbnb numerous times and are a fan like you. Haven't had a beach hol gor 3 years though and the missus wants to go on them so we'll want a little complex somewhere with onsite bar, pool etc. Hopefully near a city though as I get bored easy on them hols.
Have a look at Travelzoo, they have some decent deals occasionally for beach stuff. (Although you have to sign up to their site.)

I think this belongs here...
Spain is hotter than England because it is 2.5 hours closer to the sun

Haha this reminds me of a young lad I work with (funnily enough he was on Everton's books as a kid) he was adamant that it was hotter on top of Everest because it was closer to the sun he genuinely thought you could wear a T shirt on top, you couldn't make it up.

Anybody spent anytime in the Boston area? Thinking of going next year for a big birthday (gulp) - always wanted to explore Stephen King country so want to hire a car and drive around Maine

I lived in Vermont for a year a while back. PM me if you like. Portland ME is lovely

Off to Italy next week - pretty excited! First up Venice for 3 days, then flying to Sicily to stay in Cefalu and Palermo for 5 nights, before making our way across the island to Catania for 3 nights.

Hearing Scicily is ridiculously hot, which should be a toughy - i struggled with the heat last week!

Off to Spain tomorrow, 2 nights in Granada then 3 nights in Cazorla for the blues festival (long nights, as the last band comes on at 03.30 in the plaza de toros) and 2 nights in Benalmedena.

Great location. What are you doing while you're there? When I went I mainly walked around, hung out on the beach, visited Monte Carlo and went out drinking!!

Visits to Cannes, Monte Carlo via train and take in the sights.

We are there for a week but the Monday night will have to find a sports bar yo watch us versus Man City.
